foals and 486 starters that earned 383 ROM with 67 stakes winners and 77 stakes placed runners and earnings of $6,803,329. He sired nine Champions with two World Champions and seven divisional Champions. They garnered 16 Championships. This time we will focus on three of his leading runners that show his versatility as a cross on a variety of bloodlines and reinforce these pedigrees with some more examples of this ability.
JOLLY JET DECK
The first crop of foals came in 1965 with a bang that had eight stakes horses including five stakes winners. Leading the crop was Jolly Jet Deck. She gives us a unique perspective on Jet Deck and the foundation bloodlines in her dam’s pedigree.
Jolly Jet Deck was bred by H. M. Oliver and owned by Hugh Preston Jr. She started in 73 races from 1967 to 1972. She raced at five different tracks, winning 22 stakes races. Here is where it gets interesting. La Mesa Park in Raton, New Mexico, during this period was a mainstay of Quarter Horse racing. It was a popular
place to race, and it was very competitive. Their All Distance Championship Series was a set of races run from 220 yards to 440 yards that showcased the versatility of the racing Quarter Horse. Jolly Jet Deck certainly showed that versatility. This mare raced in
an All Distance Championship race 20 times
and that accounted for nine of her stakes wins. She was also second or third in five
of them. In 1969, she won the All Distance Championships at 330 and 300 yards. She won three All Distance Championships races in 1970 at 400, 440 and 300 yards. She won two All Distance Championships in 1971 at
