of Shubalee). Lena Horn and 89’er were Warren broodmares and Shubalee was a daughter of Leo.
Jolly Jet Deck certainly set a standard for other Jet Deck foals to follow. Again, we have a sad note as she produced only three foals, all ROM, and one stakes winner in Jolly Te, winner of the 1978 Oklahoma Derby.
Here are two more stakes winners that came from a dam with a foundation pedigree. Possumjet, by Jet Deck, won the 1972 All American Futurity-G1. She was out of Susie Possum by Parr Passum, who was sired by a Thoroughbred named Danger Boy II. Parr Passum’s dam was La Price by Joe Moore by Little Joe, and La Price was out of a mare by Hickory Bill by Peter McCue. The dam of Susie Possum was Byers Red Ant by Red Wolf by Blackburn by Yellow Jacket. The dam of Red Wolf was a mare by Yellow Wolf by Yellow Wolf by Old Joe Bailey. Byers Red Ant’s dam was My Pal Byers by David Thomas by FH Bill Thomas, and David Thomas was out of a FH Bill Thomas mare. FH Bill Thomas was sired by Buck Thomas by Peter McCue.
Jet Royale, by Jet Deck, was foaled in 1969 and he won six stakes including the Raton Futurity and the El Paisano Derby. He was out of Hoddizo by Hoddy by Bacchus by Joe Bailey P-4, and Bacchus was out of Nita Joe by Little Joe. The two Joe Bailey’s were different horses. The Joe Bailey P-4 was also known as Gonzales Joe Bailey and the other Joe Bailey was never registered. The dam of Hoddizo was Kanzo II by Can Do that is found in the pedigree of Jolly Jet Deck. The dam of Kanzo II was Lady Zero by Joe Tom by Joe Hancock, and that is familiar as well. Jet Royale was bred by Wilbur Stuchal, the trainer of Jet Deck.
The other stakes winners from the 1965 crop of Jet Deck were Custom Jet (out of Lena Horn), 89’ers Jet (out of 89’er), Jet Smooth (out of Lena’s Bar), and Shujet (out
