   Develop A Plan Stakes-G3
FIRSTKLASFRED
by Tracy Gantz
First Klas Fred made his Delta Downs debut a win- ning one, but he had to do it the hard way. Four noses separated the first five finishers in the May 25
Develop A Plan Stakes-G3.
To make matters worse, First Klas Fred got away a
trifle slowly, breaking sixth of the eight starters. About halfway through the 350 yards, First Klas Fred began to accelerate under jockey John Hamilton. Racing right in the middle of the herd of horses reaching the wire together, the 5-year-old gelding emerged victori- ous by a head in :17.380.
Heath Taylor trains First Klas Fred for Denis and Julie Schoenhofer. The Schoenhofers bought First Klas Fred for $20,000 at the 2008 Eclipse Select Yearling Sale. At 2, First Klas Fred won the Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and Hobbs America Futurity-G3, and last year he won the Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America Handicap-RG3.
Bred in Texas by James and Marilyn Helzer, First Klas Fred is out of She Flies First Klas. The mare has produced three winners from four starters, including stakes-placed This Snow Shows Klas. First Klas Fred is her richest earner, with a lifetime bankroll of $556,443.
Santos Carrizales piloted favored Charal Kid (Streakin La Jolla-The Special Feature) to second for trainer Eusevio Huitron and owner-breeder Malinche Cattle Co. Inc. Earlier this year, Charal Kid won the Streakin La Jolla Stakes at Louisiana Downs. Jose Socorro Vera Jr.’s Kool Country Man (Country Chicks Man-First Kool Baby) finished third with Alfonso Lujan up for trainer Jonathan Castaneda.
Completing the field were Eyesa Western (Eyesa Special-Western Debt), Heza Gonna Dash (Heza Fast Dash-Iwanna Dash), Stones Puede (SC Chiseled In Stone-Puede Streak), Feature Mr Alliance (Feature Mr Jess-Valentine Alliance), and Royal Invasor (Royal Quick Dash-One Fast Kisser). Special Royal Corona and WRS Special Shoe were scratched.
Dash For Speed Skip Zimmerman Stakes
CARTELSFIRSTCARD HOLLYWOODTRICKSTER
by John Moorehouse
Cartels First Card lived up to the name of the Dash For Speed Stakes, coming on strong late to win the $15,000 event held May 27 at Arapahoe Park.
Owned by Hugo Barron Sierra, Cartels First Card registered his second career stakes victory and tied his all-time best speed index of 102. Cartels First Card won the Dash For Speed by a half-length, but the 6-year-old gelding and rider Alejandro Luna still had a battle on their hands.
Luna brought Cartels First Card out of the No. 7 hole just shy of Patriots Glory, who stayed in front through mid-stretch. Cartels First Card caught Patriots Glory during the final 100 yards, however, and burst away from the field in the final strides.
Jose Barron trains Cartels First Card, who ran the 330 yards in :16.587. The $9,000 payday pushed his lifetime earnings to $153,225 after six wins in 22 outs.
Docs First Card, the dam of Cartels First Card, is also a stakes winner. As a broodmare, of the 17 starters she’s produced among 20 total offspring, four have stakes victories of their own including Champion Secret Card.
Patriots Glory (Game Patriot-Daisy N Eye),
the runner-up, is owned by Richard and Genevieve Herman. Trained by Hipolito Michel-Valverde, Patriots Glory had Elliot Bachicha Jr. aboard. Wave Bac (Wave Carver-Bac By Design) finished third for Lonnie Terwilliger. The John Hammes trainee was ridden by Vince Guerra.
The remaining order of finish in the Dash For Speed was Prince On Line (Title Contender-Fair Lady Pam), Chase This Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Chase This Juno), Raise Ur Corona (Corona Casanova-Playful Eyes), Fireball From Heaven (Walk Thru Fire-High Fuel Cartel), Rumba Casino (Streakin La Jolla-Go Street Music) and BCR Buds For All (Strawflyin Buds-BCR Splashin Krispy). Teller Im Coming was scratched.

Hollywood Trickster came on strong from the out- side to grab a late lead and nab his first stakes, winning the $18,950 Skip Zimmerman Stakes on
May 28 at Canterbury Park by a half-length.
The 5-year-old gelding now holds four wins in 18 lifetime outs, and owner Christine Hovey collected a
$9,475 payday that improved Hollywood Trickster’s total earnings to $72,809.
It took a late push for Hollywood Trickster to improve to 2-0 thus far in the 2012 campaign. The gelding started on the outside of the nine-horse
field and was running near the back of the pack early. Jockey Derek Bell urged Hollywood Trickster onward, and the gelding had seized the advantage from Wheres Your Wagon by the time he entered the stretch. From there, Hollywood Trickster widened the gap during the final yards.
Prepped by Ed Hardy, Hollywood Trickster covered the 350 yards in :17.903 for a 92 speed index. The gelding already was stakes-placed, posting a second and two thirds previously in stakes company.
Henry Brown bred Hollywood Trickster, who is the first stakes winner out of his dam, Hollywood A List. Half-sister Hollywood Caliente also is stakes-placed.
Wheres Your Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon- Yawls Spreadn Rumors), the betting favorite at 2-1, took runner-up honors for owner Kay Sage and trainer Amy Wessels. Jockey Oscar Delgado did the riding. Show Me The Wave (Wave Carver-Show me The Wire) finished third. Paul Luedemann is the owner and Amber Blair the trainer. Mark Luark was aboard.
The remaining order of finish was Iris Cartelsbadnews (Agouti-Another Hot Idea), Paintyourownwagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Jessica Ravin), Red Hot Zoomer (Azoom-Prairie War), Cs Arc Light (A Regal Choice-Easanon), Sea N Lace (Sean Roy-Lacey Six Moms) and Six It Up (Tres Seis- Biddies On A High).
