INAUGURATOR si 94, $128,234
Inaugurator came into the All American Derby trials with a 4-win streak that included the $232,000 Heritage Place Derby-G2. Trained by Monty Arrossa for owner Valeriano Racing Stables LLC, the gelding broke in third under Ricky Ramirez, quickly grabbed second and stayed there throughout
to finish 2 1/4-lengths over the third-place finisher. His second-place finish was good enough to qualify with the sixth fastest time. Bred by Cynthia Dick, Inaugurator is a full brother to Lovington Stakes-G2 winner Roman Soldier CD ($153,181) and a half-sister to stakes placed CD Flash And Fame ($71,172). Inaugurator is out of stakes winner Famous Phoebe ($189,272) and his third dam is Champion Dashing Phoebe, who was a finalist in the All American Futurity-G1.
KJ MUCHO MACHO MAN si 96, $124,294
Owned by John & Wanda Kathy Lee and Ruben Mares, KJ Mucho Macho Man has yet to win a stakes event, although he came close when he ran third in the 2019 $323,571 West Texas Futurity- G2. The Wesley Giles trainee broke on top in his All American Derby trial under Alan Hernandez, but couldn’t hold on to the lead. They finished in second for the seventh fastest qualifying time. KJ Mucho Macho was also a runner-up in the Texas Classic Juvenile Stakes and Ruidoso Invitational Stakes. The colt is a half-brother to stakes winner Jess Wild For You ($100,166) and is out of mul- tiple Grade 1 winner Wild Six ($601,632), who was a finalist in both the All American Futurity-G1 and All American Derby-G1.
ELM CREEK KHROME si 93, $85,730
One of the two homebreds on the field, Elm Creek Khrome came into the All American Derby trials as an All American Futurity-G1 finalist. Bred and owned by Kent Creel, the Bret Vickery trainee broke in fourth under Jose Alvarez and briefly slipped into fifth before making a challenge for sec- ond. His second-place finish was good for the eighth fastest qualifying time. Elm Creek Khrome was also a finalist in the Ruidoso Invitational Stakes. The gelding is the first winner out of lightly raced Jess Love To Fly. Elm Creek Khrome’s second dam is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner One Slick One ($157,937), who ran second in the All American Gold Cup-G1. His third dam is Cookie Lover, who ran second in the Kevin Burns Memorial Futurity.
HES BACK si 92, $32,634
Hes Back qualified to the All American Derby under Raul Valenzuela, breaking in sixth from
the outside post and fighting to the wire to get up for third. Immediately prior to this race, the gelding was a finalist in the $710,414 Rainbow Derby-G1. Bred by Jim Streelman and Bill Dale, Hes Back is owned by Just Horsing Around LLC and trained by John Stinebaugh. The gelding is a half-brother to graded stakes winner Cobalt Creek ($338,899) and stakes placed Distant Fury ($76,564) and Eagle Cry ($35,894). He is out of multiple stakes winner Checknbac ($216,410), who is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Bac In Front ($226,956). Hes Back’s second dam is multiple stakes winner Running Bac ($111,037).
KLEPTOMANIAC si 92, $47,041
There was a shake for the final spot into the All American Derby between Kleptomaniac and Perrys Double Down, with Kleptomaniac winning the shake. Trained by Charles Duke Shults for owners Dale Alan & Leann Doby, Kleptomaniac was out in second from the 8-post and had the early lead but was caught and settled for second. The gelding was a finalist in the Ruidoso Derby-G1 earlier this year and won his All American Futurity-G1 trial last year. Bred by Steve D. Burns DVM, the gelding is a full brother to multiple stakes winner Long Lost Buddy ($61,727) and a half-brother to stakes winner No Sandbaggin ($39,669). Kleptomaniac’s second dam is a half-sister to 3-time Champion Kool Kue Baby ($783,519).
