                 NDQHRA Derby
SWEET WILD TIME
by John Moorehouse
North Dakota Horse Park seems to agree with Sweet Wild Time. The three-year-old filly remained undefeated at the course in Fargo with her
2-length victory in the $15,000 NDQHRA Derby on July 26.
After winning her trial and posting the fastest qualifying time at :20.272, Sweet Wild Time was slightly slower in the derby but still quick enough to win by a resounding margin. She broke on top from the 2-post and led at every call, opening a 1-length separation by the first call and remaining in front by daylight the rest of the way.
Robert Johnson trains Sweet Wild Time, who made her 2-length derby-winning trip in :20.440 to register a 91 speed index. Jake Olesiak drew the riding assignment.
David L. Wisdom home-bred Sweet Wild Time, who has won all four of her outs at North Dakota Horse Park—including last year’s running of the NDQHRA Futurity. For her career, Sweet Wild Time now holds five wins in 12 starts and the $7,500 prize from this derby increased her total earnings to $38,569.
Wisdom also owns stakes winner Royal Wild Time, the dam of Sweet Wild Time. She has pro- duced 100% money earners from eight starters.
Brooklyns Dream (First Down Illusion-Little Love Affair) finished second under Brian Beetem for owner Leon Glasser and trainer Cole Wilson.
Bryton Dewald owns third-placed Fantastic Dakota (Jesscuzican-Fantastic Ellie), an Amanda Haar trainee who had Giovany Estrada up.
Completing the field were Sucha Dash Of Corona (Corona B-Dashin Silk Coat), Jennas First Corona (Corona B-Jennas Birthday), Perrys Easy Victory (Dashing Jess Perry-Shesa Easy Victory), Go Mans Corona (Corona B-Memories Jet) and Up In The Clouds (Corona Up-Dashing Clouds).
NDQHRA Futurity
THERE HE IS GONE
by John Moorehouse
For the rest of the field in the NDQHRA Futurity, There He Is Gone was exactly that—gone. The two-year-old gelding burst from the gates and
quickly took the lead to win the $15,000 event at North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo on July 26 .
Prepped by trainer Mallory Norton, There He Is Gone ran away with the victory. The gelding broke well from the 6-post and got stronger with every passing stride, sporting a commanding 3-length margin by the time he hit the finish line.
Scott Bethke rode There He Is Gone to victory, finishing the race in :18.070 and registering an 81 speed index. The $7,500 first-place share of the purse increased his overall earnings to $11,391.
Steve Leonard owns There He Is Gone, who now holds two wins in six lifetime starts. This marked his stakes debut, and he entered it near the top of the qualifying ladder after winning his trial and tallying the second-fastest time.
Randal Schwartz bred There He Is Gone out
of ND Bunny Jet, an unraced 1997 mare whom Schwartz also owns. There He Is Gone becomes the third member of the brood to win a stakes race, joining Major Splash Bac Jet and the deceased Rockinrollin Nolan.
Jess A Wild Time (One Sweet Jess-Royal Wild Time) was the post-time favorite and fastest qualifier but finished second in the final. David L. Wisdom owns the gelding, a Robert Johnson trainee who had Jake Olesiak in the irons. Vals First Corona (Corona B-Miss Salty Val) placed third for owner John
Bubel and trainer Terry Davis. Evan Herman drew the riding assignment. DCR Miss Doubtfire (Dos Dashuino-Madam Doubtfire), Ramblin Twin Turbo (Ima Ramblin On-Two Thirty Eight) and Gabriels Affair (Feature Mr Bojangles-Little Love Affair) completed the order of finish. Volcoms Redstorm Cat and Im Chasin Wagons both were scratched.

PYC PAINTED STREAKER
by Emily Blankenship
PYC Painted Streaker remains undefeated as he captured the $91,400 G.C.F.A. Firecracker Futurity at Gillespie County Fairground on July 19. The gelding broke in fourth from the 9-post,
grabbing third at the midway point. Ridden by Jose Martinez, PYC Painted Streaker delivered a strong driving finish to cross the line a 1/2-length in front.
Trained by Angel Sanchez, PYC Painted Streaker secured the $31,990 winner’s share of the purse for owner Valerie Moya, boosting his total bankroll
to $33,790. His only other start comes from his G.C.F.A Futurity trial on July 5, where he finished first for the fifth fastest qualifying time.
Gerardo Medina Luna bred PYC Painted Streaker out of Champion Miss Kips Streakin, who won seven stakes races, including the Leo Stakes-G1 and Manor Downs Derby-G2. She has produced 100% money earners from 11 starters, including All American Quarter Horse Congress Futurity winner One Jess Streakin, who was also a finalist in the Sam Houston Derby-G3. PYC Painted Streaker is her second stakes winner and top earner.
Royal Tales LBH (Wagon Tales-Royal Pop LBH) finished second under Francisco Calderon for owner Laurel Brothers Horses LLC and trainer Angel Sanchez. The filly was fifth in the Oklahoma Futurity-G2 earlier this year.
Javier Lopez’s Blue Capo (Capo De Capi-SS Missy Blue) came in third. The Alonso Neri trainee had Manuel Gutierrez in the irons.
Quick Return (Dee Dee-Bert’s Bonnie), OJD Chavela J (Valiant Hero-One Prompt JJ), A Rebels Secret (No Secrets Here-Rough Rebel), Attack At Dawn (Favorite Cartel-Attack The Cartel), Paloma On Fire (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Fire Burning), Just Call Me Sis (Carters Cartel-Justiflied) and Davids
I Opener (Volcom-I Opening Sensation) completed the order of finish.
