Fastest Qualifier Jess Toast Winner made short work of 9 rivals in the $50,000 TQHA Sires’ Cup Derby at Retama Park on June 27. Ridden by Luis
Vivanco, Jess Toast Winner broke cleanly from post 8 and tracked the early speed from 4th position away from the gate. Once he hit his best stride, however, Jess Toast Winner simply dusted his competition. He stormed home down the center of the racetrack, collared the leaders close to home and bounded clear in the late stages to score by 1 3/4-lengths.
Jess Toast Winner’s final clocking of :19.504 for 400 yards over a fast track eclipsed Eyes Blew by You’s 2011 track record of :19.544 and earned a speed index of 106.
Rodolfo Sanchez trains Jess Toast Winner for owner-breeder Maria Guadalupe Araiza. The 3-year- old sorrel gelding has now won 7 of 10 lifetime starts and the $20,000 winner’s share of the TQHA Sires’ Cup Derby purse increased his bankroll to $120,075.
It was the 2nd stakes victory for Jess Toast Winner, who also annexed the 2014 TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG2 at Retama Park and finished 3rd in the 2014 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs.
Bred in Texas, Jess Toast Winner is the best run- ner produced by winner Runaway Jessy.
Shake Em Bok (Boknaai-Shake to Shine) closed with a late rush on the outside to finish 2nd under Donald Guynes for owner/trainer John Boegner. Bigtime Connoisseur (Bigtime Favorite-Sinuous), part of the early speed brigade, held for 3rd under Cipriano Vidana. Adrian Huitron conditions the gray gelding for J and M Racing and Farm. Followed by Paint Me Perry (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Baby Perry), August Rush GI (Ivory James-Grande Anne), Favorite Goodbye (Bigtime Favorite-Beep Beep Bye Bye), Iba Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Iba Special), Paint Your Hips (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Jodys Hips), Deala Ryon (Dealagame-Six a Ryon) & Corona by Pool (Pool-Corona On Ice).

Zoomin Effortlessly ran to his name in winning the $19,750 TQHA Sires’ Cup Stakes June 27 at Retama Park.
One race after Jess Toast a Winner set a new track record in the TQHA Sires’ Cup Derby, Zoomin Effortlessly lowered the standard for the sec- ond time on the same card in blazing to a facile score in the 400-yard test.
With Santos Carrizales aboard for trainer Edelmiro Carrizales, Zoomin Effortlessly dominated 8 opponents in the Sires’ Cup Stakes. The bay geld- ing raced in 5th position in the early stages before flying home to win by 1 1/4-lengths, stopping the clock in a brisk :19.493. His new track record time earned a speed index of 107.
It was the 8th career win for owner Telesforo Perrett’s Texas-bred charge. Zoomin Effortlessly’s slate stands at 15-8-3-1 and the $11,257 winner’s share of the purse lifted his lifetime bankroll to $47,951. Tommy Charbula bred Zoomin Effortlessly out of the winless Royal Quick Dash mare Royal Quick Affair.
Graded stakes winner and multiple graded stakes-placed Mister Big (Shazoom-Jess an Illusion) was second best on the night. Francisco Calderon piloted the 4-year-old sorrel gelding for owner Jerry Windham and trainer Leon Bard.
Snipes and Bites (Vrrroom-BR Corona Sensation) dueled throughout and held 3rd under Damian Martinez for owner Pete Scarmardo and trainer Brian Stroud.
Followed by Mr Jo Eagle (One Famous Eagle- First Place Diamond), Pursuit of Duty (One Famous Eagle-Southern Fast Lady), Twister Rhythm (TX Twister-Flight On the Dash), Wild Progect (Vodka Talkin-Celebrity Bash), Blazin Bok (Boknaai- Darlins Wishes) & Paint You Lass (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Red Hot Lass). Zoomin Tac scratched.

MSG Image Of Sixes, a $6,250 claimer as recently as April, scored her first victory in the $20,000 Selma Stakes for distaffers at Retama Park
on June 5.

reached the wire a head in front of Dont Text That while covering her 350-yard trip in :17.888 and earn- ing a 90 speed index. Cornelio Salazar trained the sorrel four-year-old filly for owner Pedro Gallegos of Big Lake, Texas.
MSG Image Of Sixes has won three of 11 races, and the $11,400 winner’s share of the Selma Stakes purse pushed her bankroll to $30,047.
The Selma Stakes marked MSG Image Of Sixes’ first-ever start at Retama. The filly shipped back
to Texas from Remington Park in Oklahoma City, where she sprinted to a 1 1/4-length victory in a 440-yard $6,250 claiming race on April 19, and ran second in a 440-yard $22,100 non-winners-of-three allowance on May 7.
MSG Image Of Sixes was bred in Texas by Marvin & Sandra Gilreath of Lipan. The mare is one of four winners from as many starters foaled by the unraced mare Fetching Image.
Dont Text That (Jet Cartel-Go You Must) was 2nd under Jerry Yoakum for owners William & Debra Tiffee and trainer Jesse Yoakum. The stakes winner was shortening in distance off of a 10th-place finish in the 400-yard Merial Sam Houston Distaff Challenge on May 2. Agustin Hernandez’s All Lucky Lynn (Gold Medal Jess-Lynns Allante) ran third. Damian Martinez rode for trainer Elpidio Luna Jr. Followed by Teller Im Cute (Teller Cartel-Cash For Kas), Eye Agree (Mr Eye Opener-Tiny First Effort), Pocitas Version (Winners Version-Pocita O Toole), Miss Corleone (Carters Cartel-Clueless Bugaboo), Pop Off Jessie (Take Off Jess-Resist All), and PF Rita (Glimpse Of Greatness-Too Specially Fancy).
