JAMES FIRST AFFAIR
by Michael Compton
Despite drifting out in the lane, James First Affair notched the first stakes victory of his career with an easy score in the $41,787 Bitteroot Derby on
June 20 at Les Bois Park.
With Eddie Aceves in the irons, James First
Affair jumped out to a clear early lead in the 400- yard test. He stretched his advantage to 1 length before drawing away to win by 1 1/2-lengths over stablemate RTM Mr Caccia, stopping the timer in :19.608 for a 97 speed index.

Knight Transportation Futurity
FAMOUS CARTEL LADY
by John Moorehouse
Famous Cartel Lady made history on June 3 at Les Bois Park. The filly won the $35,515 Knight Transportation Futurity, and set a 300-yard New
Track Record in the process. Home-bred by Johnny Trotter, Famous Cartel Lady navigated the distance in :15.271, topping the :15.276 registered by BCR Strawflyin Doll on Aug. 5, 2008.
Mark Brown trains Famous Cartel Lady, who led at every call of the futurity. The filly broke on top from the 2-gate, led by a neck going into the stretch and went on to win by that same slim margin. She tallied a blistering 107 speed index winning her
first stakes race. Jockey Carl Williams was aboard Famous Cartel Lady, who was purchased at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale for $95,000.
The pre-race favorite, Famous Cartel Lady earned a $15,982 payday to improve her earnings to $17,782. She also won her May 20 trial, logging a :15.739 time in her maiden out that made her the fastest qualifier.
Trotter also owns One Famous Lady, the dam
of Famous Cartel Lady. The mare is stakes-placed & earned over $170,000 winning two of 13 outs. Famous Cartel Lady is her 2nd stakes winner. The other is One Famous Eagle, winner of 3 stakes including the 2007 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1. All told, One Famous Lady has 15 starters & 8 winners from 21 foals.
James Hanson saddled the 2nd- and 3rd-place finishers. Magic Moment Blues (Carters Cartel-Run The Dash) was 2nd under Nakia Ramirez for Robin Dunn, Larry Chapple and RTM Stables, LLC. Pappas In The House (Pappasito-Mongoose Jet Eye) was 3rd under Eddie Aceves for Rob Evans & Hanson Racing, LLC. Followed by Date N Dash (Kool Quick Kid-WRS Sweet Date), First Black Knight (Ivory James-Oh What A Perks), Is There More (Carters Cartel-A Tiny Bit More) & Bo Dash Back (Bodacious Dash-Dash Back To Me). YNOT WALK
by Danny Camp
Ynot Walk? I’ll tell you why not. Because you won’t cross the finish line first if you do. Ynot Walk answered his own question in the 350-yard Les Bois Park Bonus Challenge on June 24.
Ynot Walk got away from the 2-post with the 3rd call from the gate. It took him about half way through the race to get his nose in front, and when he did, he never gave up the lead. And, that’s why you don’t walk.
Eddie Aceves made a stellar ride in the Les Bois Park Bonus Challenge for trainer Jim Hanson. Ynot Walk, a 3-year-old sorrel gelding, crossed the wire a nose in front. He stopped the timer at :17.426, earn- ing a speed index of 99.
With a total purse of $16,015, Ynot Walk took home the $9,609 first place money, making his total bankroll worth $148,365. His race record is now 5 wins from 12 outs. That record includes 5 wins from his last 7 starts, and his previous start winning the Los Alamitos Winter Derby-G1. He also won last year’s Los Alamitos Two Million Juvenile and the Los Alamitos Juvenile Challenge. His future looks bright indeed.
Ynot Walk is owned by RTM Stables LLC and George T. Weldon and was bred in California by Steve D. Burns out of multiple winner and Grade
1 stakes placed mare Ynot Bar, who has produced 100% money earners from her 11 starters. Ynot Walk is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Ss Paydirt (Carters Cartel-Mia Ta Fame) broke on the lead and led the pack most of the way under Jesus Virgen, who was trying to keep his mount in front
only to be nosed out for owner Richard S. Frandsen & trainer Jessica Hadley. Margaritas N Coronas (Corona Czech-Fly Margarita), one of the pre-race favorites, stumbled at the break but made up enough ground to pocket third under Jose Figueroa for owner Robert C. Hickman and trainer Bret Vickery. Followed by Micato (Ivory James-Special Crys), Lil Bitts A Dash (Dashair-A Lil Bitts) & Bogue (Brimmerton-Cool N Sixy TB).
