He enjoyed a solid season at 3, finishing 3rd in the Ruidoso Derby-G1 and 4th in the Zia Park Championship -G1. He went out
a Champion again with a stellar 4-year-old campaign that saw him win the $350,000 Championship Stakes-G1 at Sunland Park. He defeated a loaded field in the prestigious event, capping a 20-race career in fine fashion.
“He was a very high-class horse and was an outstanding 2 year old,” said Butch Wise of Lazy E Ranch. “He had some difficulties as a 3 year old, but he bounced back hugely as a 4 year old. Hewasagoodhorseat2,3and4.He’sthekind of horse we’re looking for today. He is a sound horse; he retired sound and raced at a very high level. Those are the kinds of horses we feel have the greatest chance for success (as stallions).”
Feature Mr Bojangles saw his first filly sell as a short yearling to Eddie Willis at the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale in January.
“He is siring a lot of conformation,” Wise said. “His first yearling (a filly) sold at Heritage Place in January and brought $38,000 from Eddie Willis, a very good horseman. She was
a very nice filly. She had that “Ruidoso” look. She looked like a horse that wants to go a route of ground. There are several yearlings around that we are very high on.”

various studs, the 3 best yearlings are Flyingwitheagles,” said Flyingwitheagles owner Kirk Goodfellow. “Lowell Neumeyer came by my place to look at colts and he picked one out for the Ruidoso Select Sale. For a stallion that did not get a chance to really run due to injury, that says a lot. Three of mine and 2 of my clients’ are going to Heritage Place. They have some size and are very well put together. They have picked up on everything very easily and are beautiful movers. I think you will be very surprised when you see them.”
