ONE FABULOUS EAGLE
by John Moorehouse
One Fabulous Eagle left Ruidoso Downs with a stakes win on July 23, winning the $100,000 Corona Cartel Stakes.
This marked the first stakes victory for One Fabulous Eagle, who did finish second in last year’s All American Futurity and third in the Ruidoso Futurity.
Regular rider Cesar Gomez was aboard as One Fabulous Eagle clocked
the 440-yard Corona Cartel
Stakes in :21.406 for a 92
speed index & bringing home a $42,000 check to increase his bankroll to $574,280.
The talented colt broke well from the 2-gate and quickly grabbed the lead. He remained in front at every remaining call, sporting a 1-length separation as he entered the stretch, then pulling away to win by a 1 1/2-length margin.
Rainbow Juvenile
APOLLITITAKA
by Danny Camp
This bunch didn’t make the million dollar Rainbow Futurity finals, but they did qual- ify to the 400-yard $100,000 Rainbow Juvenile held at Ruidoso Downs on July 24. Apollititaka finished third in her July 9 trial heat.
In the Juvenile finals, the gray filly stood quietly in the 2 post and when the starter said go, she didn’t hesitate and was out on top under rider Eduardo Nicasio. Apollititaka crossed the line 1/2-length in
front and stopped the clock
at :19.899 for the distance.
Apollititaka earned an 86 speed index for her second victory from 5 starts. She also earned the $42,000 first place money to boost her total earnings to $46,850.
Apollititaka is owned/ bred by Rancho El Cabresto, Inc. and trained by Juan Aleman. The filly is out of 2-time winner Taka Puna.

Trainer Kasey Willis felt that the break- through stakes victory—the fourth overall win for One Fabulous Eagle in six starts— was just a matter of time for his talented sophomore colt, owned by Darling Farms.
“He had a perfect spring training at Remington Park,” Willis said. “About two days before we go to load him in the trailer to
go to Ruidoso, he colics. He had to to spend a few days at the vet clinic. That kind of put us off schedule.”
Christine Hudson bred One Fabulous Eagle and owns his dam, Ladys Heart Of Gold, an unraced 2004 mare who has produced 8 foals, 7
of whom have made starts. One Fabulous Eagle becomes the 2nd stakes winner in the brood, joining full-sister Eagle On The Fly. Three of the other offspring also are stakes-placed.
Double Down (Valiant Hero-Fast Prize Doll) secured runner-up honors for owners Greg Kobold and Wendy See. Wesley Giles is the trainer and Adrian Ramos did the riding.
Undaunted (Corona Cartel-Jess Genuine) hung well and finished third under Ivan Carnero. The colt is owned by Hubaldo Solis, Yaneth Cabrera and Astorga Racing, LLC. and trained by Ronald Stephens.
The remaining order of finish was
AHS Uncle Si (Struttin To Beduino-Ichies Signature), JM Mr Evan (Ivory James- Lawanda Fay), A Special Beauty (Tres Seis-A Special Sno Flo), Sprinster (FDD Dynasty- Dash Of Perry), Belvedere (Stoli-Rock The Fella), Endless Affair (Carters Cartel-Fancys First Affair) and Senator Cuervo (Louisiana Senator-Eyesa Lil Cuervo). Governor Pete and This Is A Deal scratched.

The mare has produced 100% money earners from 7 starters, including stakes winners Takiana Romanova B ($192,517), and Mr Taka B ($180,145), as well as stakes placer Apollitical OK ($147,993).
According to trainer Juan Aleman, Apollititaka, “is a small filly. She’s pretty hot, but shes sound. She needed an out and that’s why she was a little short in the trials. She
wanted to sit back in the gate, so we put a rig on her and
that made all the difference. She doesn’t break the best,
but when she hits the ground, she comes a runnin’. Eduardo Nicasio is our regular pilot. He knows the horses and he flies in from California to ride. The owners are steady. We have been together for 14 years and this is a homebred filly. Apollititaka missed the finals by a nose and we were glad to
get in the juvenile, we are looking forward to the All American trials in about four weeks.”
Seaside Eagle (One Famous Eagle-Seaside) finished in 2nd place. His team includes owner Martin C. Ybarra, Jr. and trainer Juan Torres. Cesar Gomez had the riding assignment.
Take The Cup (Corona Cartel-None As Easy) finished third under Sergio Becerra, Jr.. The colt is owned by LMG Racing Inc and trained by Chris Zamora.
Followed by Murcielago (American Runaway- First Fervor), Heismen (First Down Dash- Dashingfordestiny), One Sweet Racy (One Sweet Jess-Miss Racy Vike), Rebelious (Mr Jess Perry- Tiny Dash Of Cash), Im Tellin Ya (One Famous Eagle-Teller N Telleragain), Dashing Runner (One Dashing Eagle-AB What A Runner) and Perrys A Hero (Valiant Hero-Perry Story).
