Revelation Clasico
ROSEY POSEY
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Eduardo Silveyra
It was in 2015, at four years of age, when Rosey Posey debuted at the Hipodromo de Las Americas. On Sept. 13 in her second start,
she won her maiden and soon earned two more wins, closing the year with three wins in four appearances.
She returned on Feb. 28 of this year with
a third place in the AQHA Distaff Challenge. A month later, she won her heat in the trials to the Chirina Glorys Clasico and she qualified with the fifth fastest time of :17.44 at 350 yards. In the finals, however, she was slammed and bumped and dropped her rider.
Her qualification for the Revelation Clasico was achieved with a time of only :17.83, her least spectacular time obtained at 350 yards. With MS Dragon as the odds favorite, Rosey Posey was the fourth favorite to win.
The daughter of First Down Dash out of Special Wave (by Special Leader) was saddled for the first time by Martin Hernandez Bautista, and she entered position five in
the gates. The gates opened and they, along with nine other participants, exited clean and orderly mannered. Rosey Posey moved freely on the center of the sandy track and realized her full potential. Only in the last few yards was she threatened by the fast closing of the filly Muscles Diablo, and Rosey Posey ended
her run to win by a neck in a time of :17.40 for a speed index of 93.
The rider and his mount
were led to the winner’s circle
by Javier Ruiz Rosique and
Javier Rosique León, repre-
senting Cuadra San Diego del Espejo, owner of the mare, with trainer Alonso Orozco Caro, family and friends joining them. Rosey Posey was bred by Lucas Racing Inc.
This is the first stakes race for Rosey Posey, for which she received dividends of $294,060 pesos (approximately US $15,479), which make up the main part of the $490,100 pesos (US $25,813 approximately) purse assigned to the Revelation Clasico.
After two starts at Delta Downs, winning one of them, the black filly Muscles Diablo (Valiant Hero - Zoomin To Win) was brought to Mexico and entered in the Revelation Clasico in which he qualified to with the second fastest time and which was the same position he occupied in the finals. He was
well assisted by Moisés González García for Cuadra San Lazaro de Arara and trainer Rafael Alejandro Contreras González.
Special Jumpn Chic (Jumpn Chic- Agrouvateur) took third place under the
direction of Leonilo Cruz for Rancho Las Gavias and trainer Gustavo Angel Magdaleno.
