        THIS CANDYS AWESOME
by Danny Camp
This Candys Awesome has had a great career. The five-year-old mare, who had won four stakes races coming into this event, put more icing on her cake winning the $104,400 Junos Request Stakes at Remington Park on June 4.
This Candys Awesome broke from the 5-post with a strong drive and immediately went to the front. Leading at every call with Ivan Carnero in the irons, This Candys Awesome crossed the wire a
neck in front. She stopped
the timer at :19.496 for a 96
speed index.
With first place money of $63,300, This Candys Awesome increased her total bankroll to $434,481 for owner PV Quarter Horse Farms, LLC and trainer Clinton Crawford.
This Candys Awesome was bred in Oklahoma by Carl Pevehouse. She is out
of winner Jess Send Candy. The mare has produced 100% money earners/ROM from seven starters, with earnings of well over
two million dollars. Her top money earner is 2-time Champion Jess Good Candy, winner of the 2015 All American Futurity-G1. She is also the dam of New Track Record setter & multiple stakes winner Send Me This Wagon.
“This mare is easy to train and has absolutely no soundness
issues,” stated trainer Clint Crawford. “She has paid her way. She was the last of three embryos and the best of the three.
“She’s done now and will retire to the breeding shed,” Crawford continued. This Candys Awesome came from the PV Quarter Horse Farm, and that’s where she will retire. They are great people to work for and I feel
blessed to work for them. Training for them has been life changing for me.”
The betting favorite Sudden Separation (Inseperable-Okie Dokey Annie) finished sec- ond. Her team includes owner Duane Murphy and trainer Larry Sharp. James Flores was handling the reins.
Bye Bye Birdy (Hawkinson-Sweet Bye And Bye) finished third under Daniel Torres for owner Barbara Barley and trainer Larry Sharp.
Mavara Vegas (FDD Dynasty-Jess Like Vegas), Political Debut (Apollitical Jess- Sizzling Lola), AJ Hardwood (Hard Hitting- Lady Woodbridge), Marys Coronitas (Corona Cartel-Inbetween Dances), Rock Princess (Rock Solid Jess-A Classic Serenade) and Adashinrose (Furyofthewind-Pats Special Rose) completed the order of finish.
