Mr Jess Perry Stakes
SECRETZZOOM
by Michael Compton
Secretzzoom ran to his name in the Mr Jess Perry Stakes at Ruidoso Downs on June 11. Sent off at odds of 15-1, the overlooked brown colt utilized a strong closing kick in the 400- yard fixture for horses who did not qualify for the Ruidoso Derby. Secretzzoom notched the first stakes win of his career in the event. With Adrian Ramos riding, Secretzzoom broke on the lead and raced
in 4th position at the first call behind dueling leaders Rip Tide and Divas First Wagon. With a robust late run, Secretzzoom inhaled the pacesetters in the lane and drew clear late to score the upset by a 1/2-length.
The three-year-old colt stopped the timer in :19.877 over a fast track, earning a speed index of 86.
It was the second win from eight lifetime starts for
Ruidoso Juvenile Stakes
Secretzzoom. The $42,000 winner’s share increased his bankroll to $58,745 for owner
Valle Guadiana Corporation and trainer Juan Gonzalez. Second in his trial dash, Secretzzoom recorded his only other win in a maiden-breaking tally last November at Zia Park.
Bred in New Mexico by Gabriel Gomez Barnola, Secretzzoom is produced from AAA winner Suzzoom. The mare has produced
four starters, including graded stakes-placed VGC Brroom, who was 2nd in the 2014 New Mexican Spring Fling-RG3 at Sunland
Park. Secretzzoom is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
Runner-up Rip Tide (Corona Cartel-Little Surfer) grabbed the lead away from the gate and held the second place spot under jockey
Jimmy Brooks. The gray Utah-bred colt is owned by Reliance Ranches LLC and is con- ditioned by Eddie D. Willis.
Divas First Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Spit Curl Diva) dueled with Rip Tide early and finished third under jockey Omar Reyes. The Oklahoma-bred gelding is owned by J and M Racing and Farm and is trained by Albert Franco.
Memphis D Nasty (FDD Dynasty-Jess
A Cartel), This Is A Deal (Dealagame-Lady Lila), Boogles Special Dash (Walk Thru Fire-Boogie Special), JM One Hot Boy (Walk Thru Fire-Coronas Rouge), Dig This James (Ivory James-Digging On High) and A Priceless Dash (FDD Dynasty-Southern Price) completed the order of finish. Governor Pete, JM Mr Evan and Trekas were all scratched.

APOLLITICAL SCOUT
by Danny Camp
Apollitical Scout ran second in her maiden race and finished second again in her May 27 trial heat for the Rudioso Futurity. She didn’t qualify for the Futurity, but did to the Juvenile. When the gates cracked open for the June 12 finals, Apollitical Scout left the 2-post and was all business. With a stout head wind, Ivan Carnero kept her straight and finished the 350-yard contest 1 1/4-length in front. They stopped the clock at :17.751
to earn a speed index of 85 and the $42,000 winner’s share.
The sorrel filly has now earned a total of $47,260 and has a race record of one win and two seconds.
Apollitical Scout is owned by Preston and Karen Cloud and trained by Clinton Crawford. The filly was bred in Oklahoma by Dan and Louise Jones out of Swingin

Cartel. The mare has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including two stakes winners. One Famous Swinger is her top money earner.
According to trainer Clinton Crawford, “She was easy to break and trains like a champ. She felt really good the morning of the race and I knew we had a great shot. She got away good and jockey Ivan Carnero said
he put his stick away towards the end and had a ton of horse left.”
Next up for Apollitical Scout is the All American, opting to skip the Rainbow Futurity. Crawford was quick to praise owners Preston and Karen Cloud stating, “They are great to work for. I told Preston I liked the way this filly moves at the Heritage Place Sale and we ended up buying her for $18,000.”
Princess Of Torts (Corona Cartel-Queen
Of Torts) finished 2nd for her connections that include owners Terry & Irene Stennett and trainer Blane Wood. Ricky Ramirez was in the saddle.
Magical Jess (One Sweet Jess-Magic And Rhythm) made up enough ground after the break to earn third place money under Rudolfo Arvizu. His team includes owner Ugo De La Torre and trainer Mario Loza.
JM Billy The Kid (Favorite Cartel-Running Bac), One True Hero (Valiant Hero-Corona Valentine), Shenanigans Regard (Chicks Regard-Sin Til Late), Famous Runaway (One Famous Eagle-Gray Baby Runaway), Jess
Prize Me (Mr Jess Perry-Fast Prize Zoom), Revengerr (First Moonflash-Jess A Cartel) & Eyeonthecartel (Corona Cartel-Mongoose Jet Eye) followed. Cartelscandymachine & Galloping Laney scratched.
