The story of Tres Seis and his crossover connection to barrel racing begins with Gwendolyn Eaves. Gwendolyn, a native of New Mexico, lived with her husband, the late Harry Eaves, for many years in Hobbs, New Mexico. She bought her first racehorse in 1960 and from that modest beginning, she would become a well-known owner and breeder of racing American Quarter Horses. The horses she bred
are listed in AQHA records under the name Mrs. Gwendolyn Eaves.
When Gwendolyn passed away in 2009, she left a great legacy in the Quarter Horse racing industry that she loved. Records shows she was the owner and/or breeder of two mares that earned the title
of AQHA Dam of Distinction, with one of those earning an AQHA Broodmare of the Year title.
She was the breeder of horses that earned Grade one wins in such great races as the All American Futurity, All American Derby, Golden State Futurity, and Rainbow Futurity, as well as a number of AQHA racing Champions.
