Santos Carrizales Jr., who led all trainers at Remington Park earlier this year, trains Eye On The Card for Hernandez. Eye On The Card began his career at Remington, running greenly but still finishing third in the Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity-G1 after winning his trial. Carrizales saddled the top three finishers
in that final, with PYC Avenue and San Lorenzo Ivory dead-heating for first.
Carrizales had qualified four runners for the Oklahoma Bred Futurity, and Pulido had piloted them all in the trials. The jockey elected to ride San Lorenzo Ivory in the final. He was back aboard Eye On The Card for the FL Lady Bug Stakes-G3, also at Remington. They won that race by a length. With the Rainbow Futurity, Pulido is a perfect four-for-four on Eye On The Card.
Hernandez has kept Eye On The Card as
a colt and, given how well the youngster is running, the owner is certainly glad he did.
“He’s the best,” said Hernandez. “He’s quiet, kind, and very nice. It’s hard to have a stud colt. We were thinking of cutting him but decided not to because he’s such a nice guy and a gentleman.”
Hernandez noted that his family has also done well with Em High Country, a full brother to Eye On The Card. Mendez bred and races Em High Country, who last year won
the TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity-G3 and ran
