Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile
HES BULLETPROOF APHC
by Michael Compton
Post-time favorite Hes Bulletproof ApHC proved just that in winning the $20,000 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile Stakes at
Fair Meadows at Tulsa on Saturday, July 23. With jockey Gonzalo Gutierrez in the irons,
Hes Bulletproof grabbed the early lead in the 350-yard event.
Hes Bulletproof fended off pressure from PFR Corona N Lime in the lane and then withstood
a late rally from Strech The Wire to score a wire- to-wire victory by 3/4-lengths at the finish line to register the initial stakes win of his career.
“I can’t even tell you how excited I was for that colt,” said Jeff Adams. “I told Dee going into the trials that ‘if Signs of Livewire can make the finals and Hes Bulletproof can make the Juvenile, I will be thrilled.’ That’s exactly what happened.”
In winning for the second time, Hes Bulletproof stopped the timer in :18.315.
On Oklahoma homebred Appaloosa for Jeff Adams, Hes Bulletproof increased his bankroll to $14,874 and improved his record to 5-2-0-1 for
