Garañones Futurity Consolation
LA COLD IS SWEET
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Speedhorse
With eight of the ten runners present, the race for the Consolation of the Garañones Futurity was held. The filly Miss Jess Horse and the gelding One Big Dream SR did not participate in the $495,237 pesos ($23,930 U.S. approx.) consolation.
The scratched Miss Jess Horse was the fastest qualifier, but the betting favorite was La Cold Is Sweet, a chestnut filly who had the fifth best qualifying time (:15.428) with an impeccable record in three starts at the track.
Isabela Arandas (#7) broke from the center of the track and assumed command of the field with determination and speed, but La Cold Is Sweet (#8) began to dispute such supremacy at the halfway point in every stride. She crossed the finish line a neck ahead of Isabela Arandas, scoring in :15.37 seconds (SI 83) under the direction of
Oscar Cervantes.
La Cold Is Sweet remains undefeated in four starts, being the pride of the Cuadra Los Arrallanes and her owner Don Jesús Moreno and family. With this success, she added to
her bankroll $247,618 pesos ($11,965 U.S. approx.), which is 50% of the total purse allocated to the race.

la arena, La Cold Is Sweet (#8) empezó
