Gotloveifyouwantit has learned her lessons well at each level of racing. She steadily climbed the ranks through claiming and
allowance races, and it didn’t take her long to become a stakes winner. In only her second stakes attempt, Gotloveifyouwantit won the June 23 Tommy “Duke” Smith Stakes at SunRay Park.
The New Mexico-bred 3-year-old filly had tough competition in the
Smith, as several were veteran
stakes performers, including
Grade 1 winner Call Me A Blazn Chic. However, the start made all the difference, as Gotloveifyouwantit came out flying and Call Me A Blazn Chic broke tardily.
Call Me A Blazn Chic tried to catch up, but Gotloveifyouwantit turned in a flawless run under jockey Albert Medrano and won by
a neck in :19.722 for the 400 yards. Favored Wish You Had One To closed ground on the outside for second by a head over Call Me A Blazn Chic.
Gotloveifyouwantit began racing last
year for her breeder, Jack H. Norris, and
then was acquired by Jesus Marquez. For Marquez, who also trains the filly, she broke her maiden at Albuquerque and added another
victory in a $10,000 claim- ing event at Sunland Park. Gotloveifyouwantit began 2012 at Sunland with an allowance win, an allowance third, and a fifth-place effort in the Sunburst Stakes.
Norris bred Gotlove- ifyouwantit from the unraced mare Sinn Bug Special. Gotloveifyouwantit is the mare’s second winner in three starters. The filly’s third dam is stakes winner Miss Mighty Bug.
Felipe Garcia-Luna piloted Wish You Had One To (Stel Corona-Devons Wish) in the Smith for trainer Roberto Sanchez. Owner Royal Dream Ranch LLC claimed Wish
You Had One To for $10,000 in February at Sunland, and she has since finished third in the Sunburst and second in the Four Corners Senora Stakes-RG3.
Sanchez also trains Call Me A Blazin Chic (Chicks A Blazin-Willie Call Me), who races for Javier Marquez’s J and M Racing and Farm and was ridden by Esgar Ramirez. Call Me A Blazin Chic won the 2011 Zia Futurity-G1 and New Mexico Classic Cup Futurity-RG2.
Completing the field were Yawl Coming (Rabbits Rainbow-Sheza Real Bar Forth), Sparklin Royal (Sixes Royal-Sparkling Ojos), and My Soul Mate (Chicks A Blazin-Love At First Glance).

 new mexico Horseman’s association Handicap
RoLLICkIn Red
by Tracy Gantz
Rollickin Red kept his record perfect at 870 yards when he captured his first stakes
in the June 24 New Mexico Horseman’s
Association Handicap at SunRay Park. The victory extended the gelding’s win streak to five races, stretching back to February 2011.
Though a couple of his rivals beat him out of the gate in the NMHA, Rollickin Red, the 5-2 favorite, quickly poked his head in front. From the inside, Corona
Dream tried to match strides
with him for a while, but as
they approached the turn,
Rollickin Red kicked away
by a length. No one could
catch him in the turn or the
stretch, and he coasted home
under Casey Lambert by an
easy 2 1/2 lengths in :44.652.

2 in 2010, the 4-year-old began his win- ning streak at Sunland Park by winning a maiden race at 350 yards. He stretched out to 870-yard races, taking an allowance race at Sunland in March 2011 and two more Sunland allowance races earlier this year.
Robert Gentry bred Rollickin Red in New Mexico from Deeheiress, who captured the 2004 Miss Princess Handicap-G3 and
2006 Anaheim Overnight Handicap. From four starters, Deeheiress has produced two winners, including stakes- placed Jess Eye. Rollickin Red’s second dam, Deelish, was a multiple Grade 1 win- ner and Champion 2-Year- Old Filly and Champion Aged Mare. Deelish has also produced Paint Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Decash.
BRT Opulence (Real Runaway-La Vita E Bella)
finished second for jockey Macario Rodriguez. Martin Orona Sr. trains the 8-year-old geld- ing and owns him with Rogelio Carrasco Sr. BRT Opulence’s stakes victories include wins in the last two editions of the New Mexico Horseman’s Association Handicap.
Kathryn Maynard and Carla Feerer’s homebred KC Royal Flush (Sixes Royal-Willie May Dash) finished third with Tony Guymon aboard. Dominic Duree trains the 5-year-old gelding, who won the 2011 Challenger Six Handicap and John Augustine Stakes.
Rounding out the field were Bullets Brother (Real Runaway-Alexanders Lady Luck), Kokopellis Babycakes (Mr Houston-Ms Kokopelli), Mary For Money (Metallic Lion-Thirty Fourth Street), Corona Dream (Southern Corona-Call My Dream), and South Oak (Oak Tree Special-Southasofia).
