Indiana Breeders Invited to Reproduction and Foaling Emergencies Seminar
Breeders and owners participating in the Indiana Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse and Standardbred Breed Development Programs are invited to attend a free seminar on Feb. 16 about what to expect and how to manage equine repro- duction and foaling emergencies. The seminar will take place with senior veterinary surgeon Dr. Timm Gudehus and staff veterinarian
Dr. Alec Davern at Centaur Equine Specialty Hospital in Shelbyville, Indiana. Topics will include chronic infertility due to reproductive tract injuries, dystocia/birthing complications, postpartum management and rebreeding, and foal diseases and conditions requiring surgical care. AHP Launches Equine Industry Survey
American Horse Publications (AHP) launched its fourth Equine Industry Survey at ahphorsesurvey.com. Horse owners who live in the U.S., are at least 18 years of age and who currently own or manage at least one horse
are invited to complete this survey by April
1. The survey will gauge participation trends and management practices in the U.S. equine industry, identify critical issues facing the equine industry as perceived by those who own or manage horses, and better understand issues pertaining to horse health. This survey was made possible by a sponsorship from Zoetis.
Funds Approved For Renovations At Prairie Meadows
The Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission approved more than $8 million in renovations for Prairie Meadows Race Track & Casino. According to chief executive director Gary Palmer, $6 million is for the convention center. Another $2.7 million will go to renovate the clubhouse that is used for racing. Horse rac- ing begins in April and Prairie Meadows will do the renovations to the clubhouse after the season is over.

Stan Fulton Passes Away
Stan Fulton, the owner of Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino since 2000, died on Jan. 4 at the age of 86. Fulton is described as New Mexico State University’s largest single donor, having given more than $17 million for projects ranging from the football stadium to endowed professor- ships. Fulton grew up in Maryland, attended the University of Maryland before joining the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s. He owned multiple com- panies, including Future Coin, which developed the first video slot machine. Fulton is survived by six children and 12 grandchildren.

a top agent for 30 years,
managing the books
for riders such as Eddie
Garcia, Cody Jensen and Ramon Sanchez. He also worked with major stakes winning rid-
ers Carlos Aguilar, Carlos Bautista and Tony Guymon. Ohlemacher also trained Quarter Horses for many years at Los Alamitos, saddling 171 winners and winning one stakes race. He is survived by wife, Nancy, along with many other family members and friends.

The Ontario Racing Board of Directors
has approved the 2018-19 Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Program. The program is projected to provide more than
$3.5 million in total purses and incentives. A Mare Breeding Incentive will be introduced to encourage breeding of Quarter Horse mares
in Ontario, the goal of which is to increase the future racing population by providing a $1,000 incentive to eligible participants upon breeding a mare. The Third Start Bonus, which provides a $1,000 incentive to the trainer of record on the completion of three starts at Ajax Downs during the season, will continue in 2018-19.
