If 2011 Champion 2-Year-Old and Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding Ochoa wins the All American Derby, he will not only score a rare All American Futurity-Derby double, he will become Quarter Horse racing’s all-time leading money-earner. Ochoa is the sixth-fastest qualifier to the All American Derby after posting a time of :21.431 while winning the eighth trial easily
by two lengths. Ochoa has qualified to all three of the big derbies at Ruidoso this year, running ninth in the Ruidoso Derby before winning the Rainbow. Sleepy Gilbreath trains Ochoa and Roy Baldillez rode for owners J Bar 7 Ranch, Monte and Katsy Cluck, and Douglas Benson. Ochoa was bred by Johnny T.L. Jones Jr Interests.
Eyein This Feature picked the perfect time to qualify for his first stakes race, as he enters the All American Derby as the seventh-fastest qualifier with a 1 1/2-length win in :21.433 in the seventh trial. Owned by Robert Sanchez of Alcalde, New Mexico, Eyein This Feature is trained by Juan Gonzalez and was ridden by Jaime Parga Leos. A gelded son of Feature Mr Jess, Eyein This Feature is out of This Girl Is Special, who is a half-sister to Champion Jess Louisiana Blue. J.E. Jumonville III and D.C. and C.T. Jumonville bred Eyein This Feature, who was a $26,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate.
Testing The Ice was first in the ninth of 10 All American Derby trials by three-quarters of a length to become the eighth-fastest qualifier to the 440-yard All American Derby with a time of :21.468. A gelded son of Stoli and Streakin La Tac from the family of Champion Queen For Cash, Testing The Ice was bred by Corner K Quarter Horses. Jesus Avila and Jesus Cuevas of Fresno, California, own the gelding, who won the Markel Stakes last year and was a finalist in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby earlier this year. Testing The Ice is trained by Ralph Muniz and was ridden by Oscar Rincon.
After being purchased for $80,000 as a yearling at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Lotta Love For Robyn, promptly ran third in the Rainbow Juvenile and fourth in the Grade 1 All American Futurity as a 2-year-old. The a daughter of First Down Dash broke her maiden in her first out
as a 3-year-old, and now returns to the Ruidoso surface for another try at All American gold. Trained by John Bassett, Lotta Love For Robyn set the ninth-fastest time of :21.470 after finishing third behind BPS Jumpin Frisco and Linda Tee Fire in the first All American Derby trial. Wayne Barton, of Odonnell, Texas, owns Lotta Love For Robyn, who was ridden by Saul Ramirez and bred by Kim Kessinger and Jim Geller from the family of Champion Heza Fast Man.

Like Eyein This Feature, Jess Featureme Quick, will be competing in his first stakes race in the All American Derby. A winner of four of eight starts, Jess Featureme Quick set the 10th-fastest qualifying time by winning the second trial by a head in :21.472. Bred and owned by Melissa Ann Miller of Belton, Texas, Jess Featureme Quick is a gelded son of Feature Mr Jess out of One Quick Cookie, a half-sister to the dam of Champion One Famous Eagle. Miller and Dr. Teresa Dwyer bought One Quick Cookie at Heritage Place, and ended up showing the race winning mare at
the AQHA World Show in Performance Halter, where she placed fifth. Jess Featureme Quick is trained by Paul Jones and was ridden by Ramon Sanchez.
