WDC WOODY B FAST

WDC Woody B Fast put in a dominant performance to win his first stakes race in the $110,213 New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity-RG3 at SunRay Park on May 14.
The bay gelding won his April 28 trial by 1-length to qualify second and he is unbeaten as he stretched his legs for his first ever stakes win. He’s fast. And part owner and trainer Blake Rust thinks there’s
more to come.
“After we bought him, he worked well and he’s pretty fast. The further he goes the better he gets. I’m looking forward to running him at 400-yards,” Rust said.
“When he broke, I didn’t think anyone would catch him,” Rust continued, citing the gelding’s start.
WDC Woody B Fast broke first from the 7-gate and showed speed all the way,
scoring a wire-to-wire victory. Rider Martin Felix and the gelding stopped the clock
in :17.476, earning a 90 speed index. The $51,800 winner’s share of the purse boosted his lifetime earnings to $53,600 for Rust and co-owners Barton Ranch Stables, LLC.
Rust believes the gelding has a bright future because of his temperament and work ethic. “He’s smart and works
well. He’s never bucked with us and hasn’t been afraid
of anyone on the track. We made a pretty good pur- chase and the part owner at Barton Ranch Stables LLC has turned out to be a great partner,” Rust said.
Denton Crozier bred WDC Woody B Fast out of unraced Signs Of Speeding. She has produced 100% winners from four starters, including her top earner New Mexico Hi-Point
Aged Mare/multiple graded stakes placed WDC Wendys Wine. WDC Woody B Fast is her first stakes winner.
Osbaldo Blue Diamond (Osbaldo-Lady Chimes) finished second under jockey Jorge Bourdieu for owner Hubaldo Solis and trainer Omar Gutierrez. Bug Daddy Cartel (Big Daddy Cartel-Pucci Bug) finished third under jockey Jaime Leos for owner Jesus M. Estrada and trainer Omar Gutierrez.
Followed by Frangelica (Big Daddy Cartel- Tangled Vines), Soxx AR (Woodbridge-Call Me Blazin), A Diamond Mercedes (Dejon-A Classic Diamond), Jans Cartel (Big Daddy Cartel-Famous Pretty Jan), Big Daddy KP (Big Daddy Cartel-Hopeful Imp), Flash Of Victory (First Moonflash-Excessive Victory TB) and Redd Metal (Swissle Stick TB-Sandy June Bug).
