PAINTED TURNPIKE

Aband of severe thunderstorms loomed large on the southern horizon and rain pelted both horse and jockey, but the track was clear for odds- on favorite Painted Turnpike’s dominant victory in the $31,746 Mister Lewie Paint & Appaloosa Memorial-G1 at Remington Park on May 19.
After a clean break on top from the inside gate, the 4-year-old bay colt stormed his way down the track under jockey Cody Smith. Painted Turnpike was able to stride out to a 2-length lead at the
first call and never slowed, stretching his lead to 3-lengths in the stretch. There was never a doubt in his wire-to-wire victory as Painted Turnpike crossed the wire an impressive 2-lengths in front. The racing pair sprinted the 400-yard fast track in :19.767, earn- ing a speed index of 90.
Painted Turnpike earned the $19,026 share of the winners purse for owner Nolan D. Pevehouse and trainer Matt Whitekiller. The win brings the colt’s lifetime earnings to $334,520.
Nolan Pevehouse home-bred Painted Turnpike out of 2-Time Champion High Class Turnpike.
She has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including Champion Gitter Dun Turnpike. Painted Turnpike is her 2015/2016 World Champion top earner.
3-time winner PYC Ballerina APHA (PYC Paint Your Wagon QH-La Bella Rena) was second under jockey Berkley Packer for owner Gavin McLane Billins and trainer Michelle Hurdle. 2-Time Champion Dashin JJ APHA (Little Jungle Jet-Dashin Di QH) was no match for the top pair and placed third under jockey Jose Vega for owner and trainer Ray A. Enlow.
BP Apollitical Sun APHA (Apollitical Jess QH-Baileys And Sunsets), Tellerimaprettygal ApHC (Tellers Dash QH-Thunders Judy Mac) and Texas Snowman APHA (SM Country Snowman-Just Call Me Lonesome) completed the order of finish.

CJS ROCKSOLID

CJS Rocksolid secured his third stakes victory in the $57,300 Grade 3 Zoetis Remington Park Distance Challenge on May 14.
Ridden by Josh Romero, CJS Rocksolid broke from the 2-post in third and stayed there until the last call when he made a bold move in the stretch for a 2 1/2-length finish ahead of the competition. CJS Rocksolid completed the 870-yard fast track in :45.494 posting a 96 speed index.
The sorrel gelding took home the $27,518 winner’s share of the purse, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $267,812. Tammy Johnson trains CJS Rocksolid for owner/breeder Rockin J Running Horses. Prior to this victory, CJS Rocksolid collected the Remington Park Distance Handicap-G3 and the Brigand Stakes.
Rockin J Running Horses bred CJS Rocksolid in Texas out of winner Sultry Miss, a half-sister to mul- tiple graded stakes winner Kims First Dash and First To Score, who won the 1994 Ruidoso Derby-G1. The mare has produced 100% money earners from 17 starters, including Rockin Shazzam, winner of the Tex Mex Stakes at Zia Park, and Shes A Wild Babe, runner-up in the Fort Pierre Futurity. Oklahoma Hi-Point Distance Horse/New Mexico Hi-Point Aged Gelding CJS Rocksolid is her second stakes winner and top money earner.
Ricky Ramirez rode Jessa Little Rusty (Mr Jess Perry-Rustys Quickid) to a second place finish for owner Louis Howard and trainer John Stinebaugh.
Darling Farms’ Thespeedprofessor (Furyofthewind-Dreams For Lyndsie) was quick in the beginning, but fell behind for a third place finish under Mario Delgado for trainer Michelle Hurdle.
Give It To Shaq (Afrashad-Brittany Dale), Juno Dat Timber (First Timber-Dashing Snowbound) and CJS Rockhard N Ready (Rock Solid Jess-Sultry Miss TB) completed the order of finish. Admiral Zoomwalt and Quarter Focus scratched.

TIME FOR WINE

Fastest qualifier Time For Wine soared to her third stakes victory in the $53,190 Merial Remington Park Distaff Challenege-G3 on May 14.
With James Flores in the irons, Time For Wine broke on top from the 3-post. Although the duo spent
a brief moment in third at the first call, they quickly reclaimed the lead in the stretch to finish 1-length in front. Time For Wine completed the 400-yard fast track in :19.849, earning an 88 speed index.
Time For Wine took home the $24,467 winner’s share of the purse and pushed her cumulative earnings to $126,223. She is owned by Pete Scarmardo and trained by John Weghorst. Time For Wine’s other stakes victories include the 2016 AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship-G1 at Los Alamitos and the 2016 Sam Houston Distaff Challenge.
Vessels Stallion Farm, LLC bred Time For Wine in California out of graded stakes finalist Fine Wines. She has produced 100% money earners from seven starters, including graded stakes winner Onemoreglassofwine and stakes placed Mr Perrys Wine. Texas Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Filly Time For Wine is her top earner.
Jesus Salazar and Jess Envision (Apollitical Jess-Answer The Dream) posted a second place fin-
ish for owners J. Garvan Kelly, Nancy Yearsley and Lloyd Yother. The filly is trained by Juan Aleman. Honeymoon Candy (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Jess Send Candy) finished third for owners Michael & Donalda Pohl. The filly was ridden by Ricky Ramirez & trained by Stacy Charette-Hill.
