HEZA BELL PERRY

Heza Bell Perry ran his win streak to three with a powerful victory in the Delta 550 Dash at Delta Downs on May 12.
Ridden by Alfonso Lujan, Heza Bell Perry raced in fourth position in the early stages of the 550-yard contest. The sorrel gelding was ahead in the stretch with an impressive late rally, drawing clear for a decisive 1/2-length score. He stopped the timer in :26.947, earning a 101 speed index for the effort.
The $24,000 winner’s share of the purse increased Heza Bell Perry’s lifetime bankroll to $171,106. The win marked the second stakes victory for Heza Bell Perry, who also annexed the Harris County Stakes this year at Sam Houston Race Park for owner/trainer Javier Noel Contreras. Heza Bell Perry now boasts a career record of 11(2)-2-2 from 27 starts.
Bred in Louisiana by Mars Racing, Heza Bell Perry is out of unraced De Bell Perry. She has pro- duced 100% money earners from four starters. Heza Bell Perry, her top earner, set a New Track Record at Fair Grounds in 2016 for 440 yards for a career high 113 speed index.
Coronas Statement (Mighty Corona-Tonyas Statement) dueled gamely through the lane but
had to settle for second under David Alvarez. The 4-year-old gelding is owned by Julien R. Stevens
III and is trained by Paul Rigdon. WW Showtime (First Prize Perry-WW Family Tradition) and Raul Ramirez Jr. led briefly away from the starting gate and wound up third for owner Victoria Galindo and trainer Eduardo Morales. Bar Struck (Corona For Me-Miss Manolo), Super Sonic Patriot (Jet Black Patriot-Totally Selfish TB), Gone Cartel (Coronas Leaving You-Ms Big Dashin Now), Chuys Valcom (Volcom-Ill Getcha Good) and Apollitical Courage (Apollitical Jess-Quiet Courage) completed the order of finish. JLS Book Of Psalms was scratched.
Mother’s Day Stakes
FIRST FANCY PRIZE

First Fancy Prize made an impressive wire-to-wire run in her first-ever stakes victory, winning the $40,000 Mother’s Day Stakes at Delta Downs on May 13.
First Fancy Prize broke on top from the 5-gate, led by 1-length at the first call and maintained that advantage entering the stretch. She reached the finish line sporting a 1/2-length margin under rider John Hamilton. Trained by Michael Taylor, First Fancy Prize covered the 350 yards in :17.404 for a 97 speed index. Already on the cusp of a six-figure bankroll, First Fancy Price now has $113,804 in earnings with the $15,000 first-place prize.
Scott & Monica Jones and Raymond Loup own First Fancy Prize, who reached the winner’s circle for the fourth time in 11 career starts. First Fancy Prize previously was stakes-placed, with two second place finishes as well as a third-place effort in last year’s running of this event.
Weetona Stanley bred the filly and home-bred her dam, winner First Prize Fancy. She has produced 100% money earners from 18 starters, including five stakes winners. Grade 1 winner Im A Fancy PYC is her top earner.
Fast Dash Chicks (Heza Fast Dash-Fast Chicks) finished second for owner Horses of Fire, Inc. The Jose Garcia trainee had Floriberto Maldonado in the irons. JLS Ms Politicaljess (Apollitical Jess-Psalmist) made a game run for third. She is owned by JLS Speed Horse Ranch, Inc., and trained by Lanny Keith. J.R. Ramirez did the riding.
Mary Me Anna (Game Patriot-Romancing Mary), Sheza Streakin Class (Heza Fast Dash- Streakin First Class), San Lorenzo Lady (Coronas Leaving You-First Down Hemp), Jetz A Streakin (Jet Black Patriot-Ms Janas Perry), Cajun Diva (Jet Black Patriot-Lajollas Leadinglady) and Do Not Blink (PYC Paint Your Wagon-A Watchful Eye) completed the order of finish. RBD Jessaswingin scratched.
