Alberto Bailleres Selecta Auction Futurity Consolation
SOLA ZEVI
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Eduardo Silveyra
The consolation was run between those indi- viduals positioned 11 to 20 in the general list of times obtained in the qualifying races. The prize for this race was $356,175 pesos (approximately $18,175 US).
It was an evenly registered time in this group, but the odds to win favored the grey AG Navigating Snow, positioned as the fifth fastest and with a perfect record of 5 wins from 5 starts. The next preference went to the colt Malak Fritz, also unbeaten in his three appear- ances and with the second fastest speed for
this race. Sola Zevi, the eventual winner and ranked with the fastest time, was considered the fifth best choice to win with odds of 7.10.
At the start, the only incident was that Invasora Jess (#5) went inward interfering with La Escuincle (#4), and both were left without an opportunity to do something decent in
the competition. By contrast, the colt Malak Fritz (#1) had a great start and led the group with energy in the first strides attached to
the inner rail. However, in the middle of the wet track the sorrel Sola Zevi (#6) began to loom, devouring yards with her powerful stride, pursued by Corona Flame (#7) and AG Navigating Snow (#8). Quickly, these three dominated Malak Fritz, took over the race, and crossed the finish line in that order with Sola Zevi in front by a neck and Corona Flame a length over AG Navigating Snow.
Sola Zevi (Senior Solo - Elegant Zevi, by First Down Dash) ran the 350 yards of the muddy track in :17.45 for a 91 speed index, well directed by Moises Molina Romo. The filly is owned by the Cuadra Nuevo Silva and, for this commitment, was saddled by trainer Jose Manuel Martinez Garcia. The awards cer- emony was led by Homero Marin, veterinarian and owner of the filly, his family, and with the presence of his breeder Dr. Anselmo Aguilar Payan.
This was his second win in four appear- ances, plus one second and a third place for Sola Zevi. The filly won her maiden on Sept. 4, and qualified easily by 1 1/2-lengths for this race. The reward for her efforts was $178,087 pesos (approximately $9,088 US).
As already mentioned, Corona Flame (MSR Corona Classic - Old Special Flame) was placed second led by Rodrigo Vallejo. The colt is owned by Cuadra San Julian, was sad- dled by José de Jesús Valdivia, and comes from the farms of Abelardo Gallegos Fernández.
- Memories In The Snow) took third place supported
by Alberto Ceron Zamudio for Cuadra Tayahua and his trainer Guillermo Hernandez Portillo. The gelding was bred by Alejandro Garza Garza.
Other positions were:
Sea Firefly Horse (Sea Horse
Corona – JDS Firefly), Beduina Do It All (Aguerrido – Iwannadoitall), Malak Fritz (Fearless Fritz – Gigli), Queen Aguerrida (Aguerrido – Jess A Princess), Loncho y Dany (Danny Cartel – Shes A Toll), La Escuincle (Natovas Prince – Pascola) & Invasora Jess (Royal Invasor – Jess Clear This).
Sola Zevi (Senior Solo – Elegant Zevi,
por First Down Dash), agotó las 350 yardas
