She was the 1992 Champion 2 Year Old and Champion 2-Year-Old Filly. She won the Kansas Futurity-G1 and Rainbow Futurity-G1. She followed that up at three as the winner of the Rainbow Derby-G1. Deceptively is the dam of 10 ROM, includ- ing the Sam Houston Race Park Track Record setter Hotdoggin, a multiple stakes finalist in events like the Kindergarten Futurity-G1 and Sam Houston Derby-G2.
Femme went to the court of Pie In The Sky to produce a mare named Femmes Flam, who was stakes placed with a third in the 1990 Leo Handicap and a finalist in the Kindergarten Futurity-G1.
Femmes Flam entered the broodmare band to produce several ROM runners, including a mare named Bizarre, who placed first, second or third in five of her eight starts. Bizarre was sired by Magic Dozen.
The first foal out of Bizarre was RJK Runaway by Runaway Winner. She went to the track and failed to win a race, finishing second in one race and third in another from eight starts. RJK Runaway is the dam of 2009 Champion 2 Year Old/Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Runnning Brook

Miss Balumba Win by Clabber’s Win was another daughter of Balumba that forms her own branch of the Woven Web female line. This mare was a 2-time stakes winner in the Independence Futurity and Senoritas De Santa Fe Handicap. She was the dam of
Tisa Golden Dream, who was stakes placed in the Las Ninas Handicap and Ed Burke Memorial Futurity. She was the winner of six races from 18 starts.
Tisa Golden Dream was the dam of twelve ROM runners, including six stakes horses. Her stakes winners were Sixarunner, an earner of $153,777 while winning seven stakes races. She won the 1993 Bandera Six Flags Futurity-G3 and Speedhorse Gold And Silver Cup Derby-RG2. Her other stakes winner is Vital Image, winner of the 1999 Hawthorne Sprint and 1999 Hoosier Park Classic. Sixarunner is the dam of Sixish, earner of $472,026 and winner of the PCQHRA Futurity-G1.
WOVEN WEB AND INBREEDING
We find the inbreeding in this line coming through the mating of Depth Charge with Woven Web. Woven Web was sired by Bold Venture. Depth Charge, the sire of Baloma, was sired by Bold Venture. This gives Baloma a breeding pattern of 2 X 2 to Bold Venture, who sired Assault and Woven Web.
The two examples that we have profiled here represent any number
of important taproot mares that show inbreeding in the tail female line in one form or another. One of those mares to follow this pattern is Flicka, the dam of Spencer Childers’ great mare Black Easter Bunny. This is the family of such noted Champions as World Champion Be A Bono. Flicka has a breeding pattern of 3 X 3 X 3 to Little Joe.
Cutthroat is the dam of the legend-
ary Oklahoma Star P-6. When they bred Cutthroat back to Oklahoma Star, they got Grace H with a breeding pattern of 2 X 1
to Cutthroat. Grace H is the 6th dam and Cutthroat is the 7th dam and the taproot mare in the tail female line of Dinastia Toll BRZ. Dinastia Toll BRZ is the dam of Champion 2 Year Old/Champion 3-Year- Old Colt FDD Dynasty and the granddam Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Apollitical Blood.
Nikita is the fifth dam and taproot mare in the tail female line of Mr Jess Perry, the #2 All Time leading living sire of money winners. Nikita shows inbreeding in her pedigree with a breeding pattern of 1 X 2 to Chico McCue, a son of Reed McCue by Joe Reed P-3.
The tail female line and the taproot mare is an important topic we have covered in the past, but it is a topic we need to revisit and continue to observe. The inbreeding we see in the tail female line is one of many aspects that we don’t completely understand, but we certainly know it plays a role in the breeding of a good racehorse. So, keep checking out that tail female line.
The mitochondrial DNA is passed down generation after generation through the tail female line. This is a tie that binds the taproot mare with the foals in her line.
