yougottobekiddinme completed an Iowa Stallion double when he captured the Oct. 26 Iowa Stallion Derby at Prairie Meadows during Iowa Champions Night. A year previously, the gelding won the Iowa Stallion Futurity. It was also a double for the stallion Hot Shot Dash, the sire of Yougottobekiddinme and this year’s Iowa Stallion Futurity winner, Immahotdude.
About the only difference between Yougottobekiddinme’s two Iowa Stallion victories was his jockey. Thomas Byrd piloted him in last year’s Futurity, while Berkley Packer did the honors in the Derby. Yougottobekiddinme won both races leading from start to finish as the favorite.
At no point did Yougottobekiddinme appear threatened in the Derby. He

veered out very slightly at the start, straight- ened out immediately, and began to draw away. He scored a 1 3/4-length victory in :20.263 for the 400 yards.
Last year, Yougottobekiddinme put together a three-race winning streak that culminated in the Iowa Stallion Futurity. The Derby is the gelding’s first 2012 victory in four starts. He most recently finished third in
