Tinys First Pepsi successfully has increased the bank accounts of owners Ronald Brown and Robert Ray in the past few months. The 2-year- old gelding posted his third win in the past four outs, and his second in stakes company, with
a steady run in the $119,500 Miss Roxie Little Futurity on Oct. 27 at Hoosier Park.
The $65,725 payday swelled Tinys First Pepsi’s career earnings to $115,498. It marked the second futurity win of
the season for the Ronald
Brown trainee, who also
finished first in August’s
QHRAI SSA Futurity at
Hoosier. Tinys First Pepsi
followed that with a third-
place run in the Miss Roxie
trials, although his quali-
fying heat included what
would prove to be the top
three qualifiers. Apparently,
the young gelding was saving
his speed for the stakes final.
Jockey Rodney Prescott rode Tinys First Pepsi across the finish line in the futurity in :17.808 for a 93 speed index.
Tinys First Pepsi drew the four hole for the Miss Roxie, and got away from the gates with no trouble. He promptly found himself embroiled in a duel with Kool Quick Cash for the lead, but while Kool Quick Cash faded, Tinys First Pepsi remained strong and beat a
fast-closing Flys No Mystery to the wire by a neck.
Diana Keiser bred Tinys First Pepsi out of Chics Pepsi, a 1998 mare owned by Alexander Lance Christian. Chics Pepsi qualified for the QHRAI SSA Futurity-RG3 herself, finishing fourth in the 2000 version of the event. As a broodmare, five of her seven foals are start-
ers and four of those five are winners. Tinys First Pepsi is the only stakes winner to date.
Flys No Mystery (Fly Jess Fly-Mystery Stride) gained ground to finish second by a nose. Mark Michel bred and owns the gelding, who is trained by John McCreary and had Victor Olivo in the irons.
Chilled Too The Bone (Chilled Corona- Sheza Rare One Too) placed third by a neck for owner/trainer Roy Moore. Jose Beltran was aboard the gelding.
Hoosier Rabbit (Fly Jess Fly-Babys Rabbitt) finished fourth and was followed across the wire by fastest qualifier Kool Quick Cash (Kool Quick Kid-Easyette Cash), Free Kittens (Rare Cigar-Two Rabbits), Hopen To Smokem (Mito Corona-Lill Bita Zevi), Dennis The Menace (Executive Menace-Ze Special), Ball Ball Corona (Mito Corona-She My Payoff) and Six Figure Dynasty (First Dinastia-Six Figure Budget).

 QhraI Derby
FeaTure My newS
by John Moorehouse
Feature My News’ latest broadcast was an exclusive. The 3-year-old colt broke his maiden, earned black type and set a track
record in one fell swoop, winning the $85,000 QHRAI Derby on Oct. 27 at Hoosier Park.
Shanley Jackson was aboard as Feature My News completed the 400-yard event in :19.587, easily surpassing the :19.856 posted by Lovemelikethat on Oct. 22 of last year. Although this marked
Feature My News’ first-ever
win in 13 career outs, it
didn’t come completely out
of nowhere. Alicia Smith’s
colt finished third in the
South Florida Derby held at
Hialeah Park in February.
Feature My News simply ran away from the competi- tion in the QHRAI Derby. He broke on top from the inside starting position in the 10-horse field, was at the

front of the pack by the first call and widened the gap on the competition with every remaining stride, crossing the finish line first by 1 1/4 lengths.
Trained by Matt Frazier, Feature My News notched a 110 speed index, a new career high. Feature My News’ inaugural win also produced a $46,750 payday that improved the gelding’s total bankroll to $80,824.
Bred by W.W. McKibbin, Feature My News became the first stakes winner out of his dam, Goodnews Montanna. The lightly-raced 1995 mare has foaled six offspring, all
of whom have made starts including 2008 Firecracker Derby-G2 third-place finisher Goodnews Gran.
Each of the three horses who hit the board posted a triple-digit speed index. TF First Pick (Dash To First
Place-Pick Your Passion) placed second for owner Donald Ray Jacobs. The Ron Raper trainee was ridden by jockey Harold Collins. Mucho Fuego (Walk Thru Fire-Corona Mas Fina) placed third. The gelding is leased by Oscar Andrade, and is trained by Ricardo Martinez, who also won the Governors Stakes on this same Hoosier Park card. Yordanis Amaro was aboard Mucho Fuego.
The remaining order of finish was Dancing With Ducks (Ausual Suspect-Hard Luck Duck), Jhony Red (Corona Casanova-Special Gilda), Pescado Fuerte (Fishers Dash-Tuff Chiclet), Valor And Glory (Valiant Hero- Mahlanka), Successful Dash (Cartel Success- Rita Anns Dash), Hez Tricky Too (Okey Dokey Dale-Eyes Tricky Too) and Rapid Ivory (Ivory James-Rapid Fire Cash). Mo Zoomo was scratched.
