D E WAGONS STRAWFLY
by Michael Compton
Making just his third start of the season, veteran campaigner D E Wagons Strawfly made short work of seven rivals winning the $149,240 New Mexico
Classic Cup 870 Championship at Zia Park on Nov. 1. With Jose Ortiz riding for owner-trainer Tony Sedillo, D E Wagons Strawfly, raced in fifth posi-
tion away from the blocks. He wasn’t there for long, however, as he assumed command around the turn and never looked back through the lane. He drew clear late to win by 2-lengths, stopping the timer in :45.663 earning a speed index of 91.
It was the fourth lifetime stakes win for the 6-year-old gelding, who also annexed the 2013 and 2015 Zia 870 Championship and the 2013 Challenger Six Handicap at Ruidoso Downs. The hard-knocking warrior has also placed in 4 stakes events banking $391,818 with the addition of this $84,000 winner’s share.
Bred in New Mexico by Double Eagle Ranch, D E Wagons Strawfly is out of the multiple graded stakes-winner Wagons Maiden. The mare won six stakes, three of them graded, and earned $399,955. She is the dam of additional black-type runner, stakes-placed The Redd Zone.
Super Quintons (Quinton’s Gold-TB-SS Rigamaroll) offered game chase under Hector Aldrete but couldn’t match strides late and was second for owner Armando Aldavaz and trainer Hermenegildo Aldavaz.
Aldavaz also saddled Coronas Boy (Mr Houston-My First Corona), who closed fastest of
all under Adrian Ramos to finish third for owner Victor Diaz. Beverlys Ruller (Lordly Way-Beverlys Gold TB), El Tormenta Perfecta (Brookstone Bay-Storm Run), An Absolut Diamond (Ketel Won-The Millennium Star), Talkin Hills (Union Mills TB-A Real Whiz) and Storm Chaser (Attila’s Storm TB-Stardust Dash) followed. Also eligible Jess Ruben James and Tag Yur It were scratched.
Lovington Stakes-G2
BP HIT THE BIGTIME
by John Moorehouse
BP Hit The Bigtime posted his second straight win, taking first place in the $55,360 Lovington Stakes-G2 at Zia Park on Nov. 7.
BP Hit The Bigtime didn’t make his 2015 debut
until late September, nearly 11 months to the day since his prior out. The gelding made a victorious return, winning the James Isaac Hobbs Stakes-G2 at Zia, and now has tallied two stakes triumphs during the current Zia Park meet.
Owned by Top Roustabouts and Backhoe Service, BP Hit The Bigtime now holds five wins in 17
career starts and saw his lifetime earnings improve to $146,648 with the addition of this $33,000 payday.
Trained by Joaquin Lopez with Felipe Garcia- Luna in the saddle, BP Hit The Bigtime broke
well from the 3-hole and led by a head by the first call. He maintained that slim advantage at every remaining call, covering the 400 yards in :19.459 and posting a 95 speed index.
Bred by Bill Price, BP Hit The Bigtime is the only stakes winner thus far out of his dam, Ja Fast Lady, a 2003 mare who posted two stakes victories herself.
Runner-up Alis Jumpn (Jumpn-Gloria In Red) is owned by Eloy Humberto Pena and trained by Adam Tapia. Albert Medrano did the riding. Jerry Windham owns J Bar (Jess Zoomin-The Jubilee Diamond), who finished third. Justin Joiner trains the gelding, who had Omar Reyes aboard.
The remaining order of finish was TF Featured Effort (Feature Mr Jess-Meadow Creeks Effort), Quick Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Royal Quick Glass), Ill Stop The World (FDD Dynasty-You Light Up My Life), Streak Hitter (Walk Thru Fire-Chickasis), Dynazip (FDD Dynasty-Zip Zima), Super Sporting Dash (First Down Dash-BS Super Sport) & Bogart (Corona Cartel-Jess Genuine). Mr Eye Opener Too and Six Episodes scratched.

PANTHER HERO
by Michael Cusortelli
Third-fastest qualifier Panther Hero, a 2-year-
old gelding racing for John S. Wilson of New Liskeard, Ontario, earned his second career stakes win in the $94,864 Alex Picov Memorial Futurity at Ajax Downs on Oct. 5.
Prepped by Scott Reid and ridden by Cassandra Jeschke, Panther Hero went 400 yards in :20.430. The gelding’s margin of victory was a head from fast- est qualifier Do U Zoom.
Raced exclusively at Ajax, Panther Hero has won three of five starts, and the $39,155 winner’s share from the Picov Futurity purse increased his bankroll to $60,040.
The gelding, who won his Sept. 21 Alex Picov Memorial Futurity trial in hand-ridden wire-to-wire style, earned his first stakes victory on July 12 when he broke his maiden with a 1-length win in the John Deere Ajax Juvenile Challenge.
Panther Hero was bred by Carole Lampron of Embrun, Ontario. The gelding is one of two winners from as many starters produced by Rona Mountain, who won the 2008 Princess Futurity at Ajax Downs.
Do U Zoom (Jess Zoomin-Doing Some Winning) was coming off of a nose victory in the first of three trials on Sept. 21. Yordanis Amaro rode the sorrel gelding for owners Full Circle Racing and Cummings Cattle Co. and trainer Stephanie Keeble.
Speedocracy (Its All About Speed-Hotdoggin Baby Doll) finished third for owner George Coleman. Reid gave a leg up to jockey Brian Bell.
Rouge River Cartel (Teller Cartel-Eyesa Quick) and Memory Of Jay (Jesse James Jr-Is It Memorex) finished in a dead heat for fourth and were fol- lowed by The Katy Special (Freighttrain B-Special Effort Miss), Flick Me A Guiness (Flick Me A Corona-Behold A Contendor), and Blue Speedo (Its All About Speed-Blueberry High). Ice Fishn and Itoldyouilikeroses were scratched.
