POLITICALDEBUT
by Danny Camp
With a previous race record of two wins from ten starts, trainer R. L. Robinson took over the conditioning and Agustin Silva took over the pilot seat for Political Debut. Now, the 3-year-old filly has won two in a row. The first was a wire-to-wire run
in her Sept. 27 trial for the Adequan Will Rogers Downs Derby Challenge in which she scored the 8th fastest qualifying time. Her latest was in the finals.
For the Oct. 11 Adequan finals, the track was fast and so was Political Debut. The filly was given the 4th call as she stepped away from the 3-post. She quickly took the lead and coasted to a 1/2-length victory, stop- ping the clock at :19.754 for the 400yards. The time was worth a 95 speed index. Political Debut earned her first stakes victory in this race, and the $22,770 win- ner’s share takes her total bankroll to $52,193. She pre- viously finished 3rd in this year’s Retama Park Derby and in last year’s Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge.
Political Debut is owned by the Garza Laurel Partnership LLC and was bred in Texas by Bobby Cox out of unraced Sizzling Lola. The mare has produced 16 starters, including 3 additional stakes winners and 2 stakes placers. JD Baccarat is her best product with 2 stakes wins and nearly $250,000 banked.
Ojo De Rey (Mr Eye Opener-Joyalty) ran a steady race to get second under Rodrigo Vallejo for owner Bobby W. Myers and trainer Gerry McLean. Rare Scheme (Pyc Paint Your Wagon-Rarest Daisy) gathered himself after a slow start to finish third under Daniel Torres for owners Richard & Genevieve Herrman
and trainer Michel-Valverde Hipolito. Followed by Sexy And I Know It (Apollitical Jess-Sheza Libituino), Pizazzs Trump (Pyc Paint Your Wagon-Rare Pizazz), Style On Speed Dial (Ivory James-Pat B Stylin), Sweet Solid Rock (Rock Solid Jess-Tf Lil Sweet N Easy),

You could’ve covered ‘em with a blanket at the finish of the $72,900 John Deere Will Rogers Downs Juvenile Challenge on Oct. 11.
Bos Big Shamoon was the third fastest qualifier from the Sept. 27 trials, winning his heat in wire- to-wire fashion by 1 1/4-lengths. But, the 2-year-old sorrel gelding was the first place finisher in the finals.
Bos Big Shamoon stepped away from the 6-post on the lead under Agustin Silva. The jockey waited patiently till his mount gathered himself, then he expertly encouraged Bos Big Shamoon to the finish line. The pair received every call and crossed the wire in :17.913 for the 350 yards, earning an 84 speed index.
The gelding also earned a first place check worth $33,534, taking his total bankroll to $44,935. Bos
Big Shamoon now has a race record of 3 wins from 6 races, and he’s won his last two in a row under his new conditioner R. L. Robinson and rider Agustin Silva.

Adisplay of superior talent, trainer preparation and jockey wisdom was seen in the 870-yard $35,820 Zoetis Will Rogers Downs Distance Challenge on Oct. 11. CR Tuckernuck was in the far outside post under rider Ricky Ramirez. When the starter said go, he broke sixth and was just another face in the crowd. Ramirez whispered to his mount and, within a few jumps, they were in front. The rider sat chilly knowing the race
was theirs and, with 200 yards left, they showed their dominance by finishing 2 3/4-lengths in front.
CR Tuckernuck has now won 6 races from 18 starts, including his last three of four with Ricky Rameriz aboard. The $17,194 first place check takes his total bankroll to $134,694. The gelding also won this year’s Bill Reed Memorial Stakes and finished second in this year’s Master Salls Handicap and 3rd in last year’s Rainbow Derby Invitational.
The 4-year-old gelding, who races for owner Kharlottie Grace Urschel and trainer Stacy Capps, was bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley & W. E. Smith. CR Tuckernuck is out of winner Fast Prize Corona, who owns a 101 speed index. The mare has produced 12 ROM and 13 money earners from 13 starters, including additional stakes winner Spit Like Jagger with over $100,000 banked and stakes placed Chasin Mojo. CR Tuckernuck is her top earner.
Fire On The Fly (Jet Cartel-Shades Of Pink)
was 2nd under Russel Hadley for Bullard Farms
& trainer Tommy Bullard. Howdy James (Ivory James-Coordinated Babe TB) was 3rd under Andrew Samaniego for Jean Dillard & trainer Sam Howard.
