As of April 22, the top five in the WPRA standings are Nellie Miller with $73,313, Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi with $58,461, Lisa Lockhart with $56,652, Hailey Kinsel with $55,637, and Jennifer Sharp with $44,366.
Graham Named 2018 Vet of The Year
The PRCA has named Dr. Charles W. Graham DVM as the 2018 Veterinarian of
the Year. Dr. Graham’s peers and colleagues nominated him due to his work as a veterinar- ian and as a volunteer on numerous boards and committees. For the past 30 years, Dr. Graham has provided free housing for livestock at his ranch for 30 days during Rodeo Austin.
RFD-TV’s The American
On March 3, RFD-TV’s The American awarded athletes their share of $2.35 million
- the richest weekend in Western Sports. Top earners included: Orin Larsen in bareback riding; Madison Outhier in junior breakaway roping; Coleman Proctor (header) and Ryan Motes (heeler) in team roping; Ty Erickson in steer wrestling; Ryder Wright in saddle bronc; Caleb Smidt in tie down roping; Hailey Kinsel in barrel racing; and Joao Ricardo Vieira in bull riding.
New Dickies Arena in Fort Worth
The new Dickies Arena is set to open in November. Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co. won the naming rights to this $540 mil- lion multipurpose arena that is currently under construction at the Will Rodgers Memorial Center. This arena will be one of the top tourist attractions for a wide variety of events in the region. Dickies Arena, which will seat 14,000, will also become home to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.
Lucky Wonder Horse
Buckskin stallion Lucky Wonder Horse (First Down Dash-Rosas Cantina CC, Corona Cartel) is standing at Royal Vista Ranches in Wayne, Oklahoma. Bred by Alan Woodbury and owned by Bill & Deb Myers, Lucky Wonder Horse moved to Oklahoma from Myers Performance Horses in South Dakota. His first crop are yearlings of 2019.
ProRodeo Hall of Fame 2019 Inductees
The ProRodeo Hall of Fame announced their 2019 inductees, who will be honored on Aug. 3 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They are: Ken Stemler Pioneer Award winner Guy Elliott; stock contractors Elra Beutler and
his son Jiggs; 4-time World Champion Team Roping Heeler Allen Bach; 2-time World Champion Steer Wrestler Dean Gorsuch; World Champion Bull Rider Doug ‘Droopy’ Brown; World Champion Bareback Rider Larry Peabody; notable Jerome Robinson; notable Florence Youree; contract personnel Tommy Lucia; WPRA Association barrel racer Jimmie Munroe; WPRA Association barrel racer Sammy Thurman Brackenberry; and the Cody Wyoming Stampede Rodeo.
Triangle Spring Sale Preliminary Results
Preliminary results for the Triangle Spring Sale show the event set an all-time record for its 40th anniversary year on April 26 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Results show an average sale price of $7,550, with 86% of the consignments sold. The sale topper was Yella Izabella, aka Izzy, (Frenchmans Guy-Halo Fame, Dash Ta Fame), a 2008 palomino barrel mare that earned an estimated $200,000. Yella Izabella sold with an embryo by The Goodbye Lane for $132,000 to T.J. Hodnett of Cresson, Texas.
Barrel Sire Feintastic Dies
Barrel sire and stakes placed Feintastic (Mr Eye Opener-Sinn Jesse, Mr Jess Perry) died March 4 due to complications from colic. The 2005 grey stallion won four of 13 starts on the track, finishing third in the North Central QHRA Futurity and fourth in both the and Kansas Jackpot Futurity-G2 and Canterbury Park Derby-G3. Feintastic went on to sire many successful barrel horses.

Hillman Wins Jerry Ann Taylor Award
Three-time National Finals Rodeo (NFR) qualifier Stevi Hillman took home the Jerry Ann Taylor Best-Dressed Cowgirl Award at
the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo held Jan. 18-Feb. 9. Hillman received $5,000 cash prize and her name will appear on a plaque at the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Kendra Dickerson helped Hillman with her outfit and the two split the award with each donating their portion to their charity of choice: Hillman donated her portion to Rockin’ W Rodeo Ministry, which provides food and fellowship at rodeos across country; and Dickerson gave to Rodeo For A Reason, a charity that gives back to those who are battling childhood cancer. The award originated in 1986 and is named for National Cowgirl Hall of Fame honoree Jerry Ann Taylor, who was a very flashy trick rider and roper known for her style.
