Crush The Curve Futurity
RADAR
by Danny Camp
Undefeated from his first two outs, Radar scored his first stakes victory in the $47,100 Crush The Curve Futurity at Pocatello Downs on May 22.
Radar stepped away from the seven-post, which was the outside of the field, in second place. He took a neck lead by the top of the stretch and quickly moved forward, gaining on their competi- tors as they neared the wire.
Radar raced under the guidance of jockey Eric Ayala, and the pair held the lead through most of the 300-yards. They increased
their neck margin and crossed
the finish line 1/2-length in front of the rest.
The pair stopped the timer in :15.567 and earned a career high 97 speed index.
Ayala has ridden the brown gelding in both of his starts.
Trained by Monty Arrossa, Radar collected the $21,666 first place check for owner Vincente Treyes. With this deposit, his total bankroll now stands at $27,666.

B THE ONE
by John Moorehouse
BThe One is off to a stellar start in his young racing career. After winning his April 17 trial for the Hadley-Giles Futurity
in his maiden out, the colt came back and won the $107,869 stakes final—setting a track record in the process—on May 1 at Weber Downs.
CB Stables Inc. is reaping the benefits of B The One’s early success. The $43,147 first-place share of the futurity purse increased the colt’s total earnings to $44,022.
“He was really green going into the trials. He had only one gate workout before that,” said Luis Gonzalez, who trains B The One.
“We were expecting a good race—maybe a first, second, or third—but we never expected a track record.”
B The One entered the futurity as the third-quick- est qualifier, completing his 300-yard trial in :15.654. In
unraced mare Snow In My Corona. She has pro- duced four winners from six starters. Radar is her first stakes winner as well as her top earner.
“It takes a team to win a race and my mom Linda keeps the wheels turning,” said trainer Monty Arrosa.
“Radar is a cool horse to be around. He was easy to break and he is really smart,” the conditioner continued. “He is chill around the barn and is good to rest when he has a chance.
“We haul him back and forth and he hauls really well. He was raised by his breeders, and then sold.
“He is a big horse so it’s hard for him to break really quick, but he improves every trip. We think he will like a little more distance.
“Down the road we are looking at the Bitterroot Futurity in July. After that, he is California bound to the Los Alamitos Futurity and then the Los Alamitos Two Million,” the trainer concluded.
Better Believe Her (Valiant Hero-Believers Gathering) ran
the final, he clocked a :15.264, registering a 109 speed index and surpassing the standing track record at 300 yards of :15.391, tallied by Jess Send It on May 5, 2018.
The colt left no doubt, breaking on top from the 1-hole, leading by three-quarters going into the stretch, and widening the gap to sport a separation of 1 1/4-lengths by the time he reached the finish line. Cesar Moreno was aboard for the stakes-winning,
record-setting run.
“We knew he was going
to improve a lot. At the same time we liked the hole [he drew], No. 1,” Gonzalez said, adding of B The One, “He’s always been really professional. He’s just an amazing horse.”
Bred by Randy and Stacy Hill, B The One becomes the first stakes winner out of his dam, KT Perry, a lightly- raced 2014 mare. Keith Bode

did the same thing in the finals. Racing for owner
