Bucking Horse Sale Futurity
LADY WHITE FOX
by Michael Compton
Lady White Fox broke her maiden from just two starts in the 250-yard $20,500 Bucking Horse Sale Futurity at Miles City, Montana on May 16
over a fast track.
Lady White Fox covered the distance in a
hand-timed :13.921, and her margin of victory was a neck from Yo Fifty Tanqerys.
Regular rider David Jimenez rode Lady White Fox for owner/breeder Runnin Horses Dot Com. The two-year-old gray filly is conditioned by trainer Jesse Villegas.
Lady White Fox loaded into the eight-gate and was the second one out at the break.
The filly remained in second, a length behind leader Yo Fifty Tanquerys, at the top of the stretch.
Closing fast for the win, Lady White Fox scored a neck victory over her rivals.
Lady White Fox earned the $10,250 winner’s share of the $20,500 purse.
The filly has thus far banked $10,500 from her first two outs.
Beehive Futurity
B THE ONE
by Danny Camp
If number one were available, why would you choose any other number? It was the running of the $70,834 Beehive Futurity at
Laurel Brown Racetrack. B The One came into the finals with the fastest qualifying time. The colt scampered from the 2-post and had ground to gain. He was equal to the task; at the halfway point he was ahead by 1/2-length. With the help from jockey Cesar Moreno, they crossed the wire 3/4-length behind Runaway Witch but
that one was disqualified to last.
B The One was elevated to the win, completing the 330 yards in :16.598 to earn a 109 speed index. The sorrel colt has been number one in every one of his four races. He set the fastest time in the May 15 Beehive Futurity the trials and in the finals, although second, he still came out on top. He
Lady White Fox was bred in Wyoming. She is out of Dream Hopper, a two-time winning daugh- ter of the Chicks Beduino stallion Legendary Dreamer. Dream Hopper earned a 102 speed index during her racing career.
Dream Hopper finished third in two stakes racing from 2011 through 2012, including third- place finishes in the 2011 Yellowstone Futurity at Yellowstone Downs in Billings, Montana, and in the 2012 Ft. Pierre Bonus Challenge.
The third-fastest qualifier from the trials, Lady White Fox made her debut with a second- place finish, just a neck behind second-fastest qualifier Eyesa Special Swirl, in the second
of four Bucking Horse Sale Futurity trials on May 1.
“She’s a very nice filly to train, but she needed that start in her trial,” said Villegas.
“We had four good ones in the final, and we were confident that any one of them could’ve won it,” the trainer concluded.
Yo Fifty Tanqerys (Fiftyshadezofgrey-Tanqery
cashed the first-place check worth $28,334, taking his bankroll to $73,106. His team includes owner CB Stables and trainer Luis H Gonzalez.
Randy and Stacy Hill bred B The One out of lightly raced KT Perry, a half-sister to TF Kates TLC, winner of the 2019 Rocky Mountain Futurity. She has produced
one winner from two starters. She is also
a half-sister to Game Changes, winner of
the 2015 Hobbs American Futurity-G2 at Zia Park,
as well as On The Wagon, who was a runner-up in the Firecracker Derby and Old South Futurity. B The One’s second dam is XO Kate, winner of the Harrah’s Distaff Stakes-G3 (twice), Swift Stakes and Texas Twister Stakes.
Mound Valley Eagle (One Fabulous Eagle-Royal Fooseperrypie) came into
Dash) finished in second place for owner Gerald F. Kaul, who also bred the brown filly. Jockey Evan Herman rode Yo Fifty Tanqerys for trainer Jesse Villegas. The conditioner took first and second place in the finals. The brown filly won her May 1 trial to this race in wire-to- wire fashion. Her trial performance was a good one and she came into the event as the fourth fastest qualifier.
Favorite Rambler (Ima Ramblin On-Favorite Dip Chick) finished in third place for owner Steve Leonard. Jockey Joseph Birdrattler was aboard the gelding for trainer Mallory Norton. The sorrel gelding has made three starts so far, but has hot broke his maiden yet. He was the sixth fastest qualifier to the Bucking Horse Sale Futurity. Favorite Rambler is still searching for that victory.
Eyesa Special Swirl (Eyesa Special Slim-Lil Charolette Swirl) finished in fourth posi-
tion and was followed across the finish line
by Mooner (Jess My Moon-Racey Secretary), Chicks Classic Dash (Chicks Dash Easy-Sucha Fancy Nickolee), fastest qualifier Yo Brindis Delite (Brindis Por Cayenne-RS Afternoon Delite), and Eyesa Special Gidget (Eyesa Special Slim-Darling Bugs Passem).
the finals with the second fastest qualify- ingtime and he ran true to form. He banked second place money for owner Andrea & Eddie Jensen and trainer Riley Moosman. Jesus Valenzuela was in the irons. The geld- ing was second in the Hadley Giles Futurity at Weber Downs last month.
Empowered To Prosper (Five Bar Cartel-KT Perry) barely snuck into the finals with the 10th fastest time. In the finals, he stepped up his game to capture third place money under Nakia Ramirez. He is owned by RTM Stables LLC, Robin D Dunn, Larry Chapple and Bryon Goody, and trained by Mark Hanson.
One Epic Eagle (One Dashing Eagle- Easily Ratified), Lew Lew Belle (Big Lew- Queenly Walk), Boondarbian (Jr Dynasty Mountain-Splash Talk), Jess Izzy (Big Daddy Cartel-Jess Adoration), Go Go Po
Po Go (One Dashing Eagle-Love That Six) and Runaway Witch (Sir Runaway Dash-Im A Lil Witch) completed the order of finish. Mia Nova was scratched.
