to hoe. Such is the case for a filly named Ivoriona, who was the 2016 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown High- Point Champion. This 2014 tobiano filly faced injury, sickness, and even some traffic problems in one of her races, to earn her title as the High-Point Champion in the series.
The race career of Ivoriona started out strong in March at Remington Park when she won her 250-yard maiden out by 3 1/4-lengths in :13.036 for a New Track Record for Paints and Appaloosas. She earned $10,020 for the win.
Her tough road began in the Speedhorse Graham Paint and Appaloosa Futurity-G1. Ivoriona won her May 21 trial with the fastest qualifying time, but she developed lameness from a starting gate injury that occurred before the June finals. Ivoriona, however, overcame the injury. She bounced back and finished in a deadheat for the win with PHQ Goodbye Earl in the June 4 finals.
The second leg of the Triple Crown was the Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa
Futurity-G1 at Fair Meadows in July. On the way to the July 16 trials to this race, Ivoriona developed a fever of 106 degrees.
But again, the filly bounced back and was the eighth fastest qualifier. Ivoriona encountered traffic
problems in the July 30 finals, but she was gaining on the end and still managed to finish third.
After a short rest, the filly was off to the trials for the Speedhorse Lone Star Paint
and Appaloosa Futurity-G1 at Lone Star Park on Oct. 14. The difficulties stayed away this time
