as Ivoriona was once again the fastest qualifier. She clinched the win in the Oct. 29 finals with a wire-to-wire run.
With all of this success, the filly has amassed $126,804 from seven starts with five wins in 2016.
The hard-fought success of Ivoriona in the Speedhorse Triple Crown series is an indication of her heart and drive to win, and her pedigree tells us where that heart and drive comes from.
Ivoriona was bred by the father and son team of Stanley and Mickey Johnson. The filly is owned by longtime friends Mickey Johnson and Randy Hill. She is trained by both Randy Hill and his wife Stacy Charette-Hill. Her rider for the first two legs of the Speedhorse Triple Crown was Jorge Torres, and Luis Vivanco piloted her in the third leg of the series.
The story of this filly starts back in
the 1960’s and 1970’s with a childhood friendship between Mickey Johnson and Randy Hill that has remained intact over the years. “Randy and I have been friends since we were kids,” Mickey explains. “My dad and Randy’s dad, Quinn, were partners in horses in the 60’s and early 70’s.
