The next foal out of Friona is unraced Friona Miss Hollywood, a daughter of Judys Lineage who has entered the Johnson broodmare band and will be bred next year.
Foaled in 2014, Ivoriona is sired by Ivory James, a Quarter Horse who is a full brother to PYC Paint Your Wagon. When asked about why they bred to Ivory James after the success of Sen Tosa, Mickey responded with a simple answer, “Sen Tosa could run and we like the Corona Cartel cross, so we went to Ivory James.”
Ivoriona is unique in several ways. Her name is a combination of Ivory and Friona - Ivoriona. She also has an unusual color pattern - she is solid on one side with paint markings on the other side.
Mickey also remembers how unique she was as a youngster. “She was a lazy thing growing up,” he said. “She was easy to get along with. She would lay on the ground and we would scratch her on the back. Most of that mare’s colts were pretty hot, but she was so docile, easy going, laid back and didn’t play a lot. She just kind of messed around and liked to eat.”
