Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity

poutn And Zoomin made a fine competitive debut, winning the $36,399 Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity at Northlands Park in Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada, on July 1.
Tabbed as the favorite in the eight-horse field
at post time, Poutn And Zoomin emerged from the two-gate underneath jockey Ricardo Moreno. The filly received the seventh call from the gates, but qui- kly opened up a 1/2-length lead as she reached the first call. Poutn And Zoomin doubled that advan- tage to 1-length by the time she entered the stretch, then held off a late bid by JB Runaway Special to win the race by a neck.
William Leech trains Poutn And Zoomin for owner/breeder Pete Schoeler. Poutn And Zoomin covered the 330 yards in :17.601, benefiting from a 10 mph tailwind.
Poutn And Zoomin becomes yet another stakes winner in her decorated brood.
Her dam, Poutnlori, also owned by Schoeler, won the 2004 Canada Cup Futurity-RG3 and the 2005 Alberta Bred Derby-RG3.
Poutn And Zoomin is the fourth foal from as many starters out of Poutnlori to post a stakes vic- tory. Her top money earner, Poutnokey, holds five graded stakes wins and set a 400-yard New Track Record while posting 11 victories and amassing more than $169,000 in prize money. Her other two stakes winners are Poutn On The Wagon, who also set a New Track Record, and Poutn With Speed.
JB Runaway Special (JB Runaway Fame-Ms Oakie Is Special) and jockey Alejandro Hernandez finished in second place for owners WT Ranch and Meghan Gayse and trainer Les Adams. JB Runaway Special was brushed at the start and just missed the win in this race.
Shesa Ivory Girl (Ivory League-Shes My Candy Girl) hustled through the lane and flew late in the race to come in third under rider Blanford Stewart for owner Westfield Oil Services and conditioner Buckey Stockwell.
The remaining order of finish was Miracle Opener (Miracle Recovery-Dash N Way), Northforkstreaker (Streakinisanattitude-Northfork Babe), Ulnvmy Shine (Six Packa Moonshine- Ulnvme) and Wild Magic Memories (Wild On Corona-Ms Magic Memories). Caddysgotanattitude and Western Moonshine were scratched.
All of the runners in the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity were making their first official starts in the stakes event.

dawsons Affair scored his third consecutive win with a victory in the $20,145 North Dakota Horse Racing Association Futurity at North
Dakota Horse Park on July 28.
The bay gelding broke on top from the 4-gate
and continued to lengthen his advantage through- out the 350-yard event under Zack Ziegler.
Dawsons Affair led the field by 1-length in the stretch and crossed the wire 1 1/2-lengths in front, stopping the clock in :18.467 earning a career best 82 speed index with a wire-to-wire performance.
Leon A. Glasser owns the bay gelding and
Jim Fleming trains him. His bankroll now totals $14,061 with the deposit of the $10,073 winner’s share of this purse and he now has a race record of 6-3(1)-0-1.
Dawsons Affair won his July 14 trial heat to the North Dakota Quarter Horse Racing Association Futurity by 3-lengths.
In his out before the trials to this race, he won the Chippewa Downs Futurity by 1 1/4-length, also wire-to-wire.
Karen Glasser bred Dawsons Affair out of Little Love Affair, winner of the 2009 North Dakota Bred Futurity, Northern Plains Futurity and the 2010 Manitoba Bred Derby.
Little Love Affair has produced 100% winners from four runners, including 2015 Northern Plains Futurity winner Tinys First Affair and 2016 North Dakota Quarter Horse Racing Association Futurity winner Heza Prospect.
Little Love Affair is also the dam of Ms Veronica, who was second in this year’s North Dakota Quarter Horse Racing Association Derby. Heza Prospect is her top money earner.
Hasta Be Kwik (Hasta Be Fast-Crazy Kwik Chick) drifted out, but finished second under Marcus Delorme. The gelding is owned and trained by Junior Dolphus. He was a finalist in the Northern Plains Futurity earlier this season.
Hesa Mr Moonflash (First Moonflash-Royal Wild Time) hustled for third under Jake Olesiak. The brown gelding is owned by David Wisdom and trained by Robert Johnson.
Looks Like A Rambler (Ima Ramblin On-Pricey Looks) finished fourth and was followed by Sucha Easy Memory (Such Easy Cash-Memories Jet), Strawfly Style (Genuine Strawfly-Runaway In Style), Corona Company (Corona Up-The Girl Got Company) and Jet Mocha (Ima Ramblin On-ND Bunny Jet).

the second fastest qualifier from the July 27 trials, Texas Eye scored his first stakes victory by disqualification in the $15,720 North Dakota Quarter Horse Racing Association Derby on July 27 at the North Dakota Horse Park.
The two-year-old bay gelding broke on top from the four-gate and led for most of the 400-yard event. He had a 1/2-length margin at the first call and just a head lead at the top of the stretch. He was out nosed at the wire by Marmolly, who was disqualified for interference.
Both Marmolly and Texas Eye stopped the clock at the same time of :20.182.
Texas Eye was ridden by Francisco Estrada and earned a career best 99 speed index.
Texas Eye is owned by William Joe Geditz and trained by Amanda Haar.
The gelding earned the $7,860 winner’s share of the North Dakota Quarter Horse Racing Association Derby purse, boosting his lifetime earnings to $19,495.
Texas Eye broke his maiden earlier in the year at Fair Meadows in Oklahoma, where he won a 300-yard maiden event.
As a freshman in 2017, Texas Eye was a final- ist in the North Dakota Quarter Horse Racign Association Futurity.
Texas Eye was bred by Randal E. Schwartz in North Dakota out of two-time winner An Eye Full. The mare has produced 100% winners from three starters, including Little Wing who was second in last year’s North Dakota Quarter Horse Racing Association Derby. Texas Eye is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Ms Veronica (Mighty Invictus-Little Love Affair) was fractious in the gate and broke out a bit at the start. She followed the two leaders to bank second place money. Her team includes owner Leon A. Glasser and trainer Jim Fleming. Jake Olesiak was in the irons. Dashing Company (Free Company- Dashing Ten) was third under Frank Johnson. The black gelding, who is owned by Darrel H. Smith
and trained by Cole Wilson, had a solid late kick and moved from the back of the pack to finish near the top. Little Speed Wagon (Paintyourownwagon- Little Free Speed), Cowboywannab (Cowboys Cartel-Oh So Effort), Cat And Company (Cat Whispers-The Girl Got Company), Miss Vals
Easy Cash (Such Easy Cash-Miss Salty Val) and Marmolly (Freighttrain B-Marmalades Cartel) completed the order of finish.
