eyesa Special Marvel scored his first stakes win in wire-to-wire fashion in the $ 43,900 Ron Cook Wyoming Bred Futurity at Wyoming Downs on
July 22.
The gelding broke on top from the 8-post under
the guidance of jockey Cordarelton Benn. They stayed there throughout, crossing the wire a nose in front in a blanket finish.
The pair completed the 300 yards in :15.384, posting a 99 speed index.
Eyesa Special Marvel brought home the $20,633 winner’s share of the purse for owner Juanita J. Villegas and trainer Jesse Villegas, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $24,888. This victory marks her second win from five starts.
Broken Bones Cattle Co. bred Eyesa Special Marvel out of lightly raced Cute Suki Brown, a half- sister to 2007 Wyoming All Breed Futurity winner Sixs Charlie Brown and stakes placed Sixes Ragtyme Joe. The mare has produced 100% money earners from four starters. Eyesa Special Marvel is her first stakes winner and top earner.
SS Happy Dance (SS Showboat-Eagle Nation) and Rene Gutierrez finished second for owner/ trainer Stan Young. SS Happy Dance won her trial heat to qualify fourth to this final.
Fastest qualifier VVR Don’t Sugarcoatit (Coronas Velvet-Highheeled La Jolla) was third under Oscar Cervantes for owner Carter Garfias and trainer Diana Garfias.

One Dashing Dream

Utah breds were front and center at Wyoming Downs on July 21 in the running of the 350- yard Utah Bred Futurity.
One Dashing Dream came into the finals of the Utah Bred Futurity with the fifth fastest qualifying time, running third in her July 7 trial heat. In the finals, One Dashing Dream broke second from the 8-post, flew from the outside and grabbed the lead at the top of the stretch.
With a little help from jockey Oscar Cervantes, they crossed the line 1/2-length in front and stopped the timer at :17.673 to earn a 92 speed index.
The first place money of $15,581 has now made the young fillys bankroll push to $17,871. Her race record stands at two wins from five races.
One Dashing Dream is owned by Aron Saenz and trained Diana Garfias.
Marla K. Robinson Family Trust bred One Dashing Dream out of unraced Coronas Dreamgirl. She has produced 100% earners from five starters. One Dashing Dream is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Showmethedoe (No Secrets Here-Bundle Doe) finished second for owner Steve G. Berry and trainer Alvaro Torres. Santiago Jimenez was in the irons.
Jess Dew It (Four Six Jess-Suzy Belle) had a clean trip on the inside to grab third place. The gelding
is owned by Leeanne A. Christensen and trained by Ryan Christensen. Jose Guzman was in the saddle.
Pistol The Kid (Pistol Packin Perry-Nitas Fame) finished fourth and was followed by Drop A Corona (Eye On Corona-WNV Virus Detected), Sir Byron (First Prize Stone-Miss Kissn Te), Locomotion Girl (Desirio-Commotion Motion), Dusty Mtn Dynasty (Jr Dynasty Mountain- Dusty Beduino) and Sheza Vital Secret (We Have A Secret-Sheza Signature). Jump To Class was scratched.
KC Carden Derby

Longtime horseman K.C. Carden, a friend to many, passed away on Feb. 5 of this year. The derby named after him was won by A Toast To Brindis
won. Wyoming Downs was the host of the 350-yard $21,250 race.
The gelded son of Brindis Por Cayenne had the fastest qualifying time after the July trials were all said and done.
In the finals he didn’t disappoint.
Under the guidance of jockey Cordarelton Benn, they stepped away from the 3-post and got the first call. A hard fought race all the way ended up with a 1/2-length lead.
They completed the 350 yards in :17.575 to earn a 95 speed index.
The gelding brought home the $9,987 winner’s share of the purse for owner Gerald F. Kaul and trainer Jessie Villegas, which ups his total bankroll to $41,006.
He now has a race record of seven wins out of 12 races, including the 2017 Wyoming Bred Futurity. A Toast To Brindis also finished second in this year’s Wyoming All Breed Derby and was third in the 2017 Sweetwater Wyoming Bred Futurity and Wyoming All Breed Futurity at Energy Downs. He has won his last four out of five.
Kaul bred A Toast To Brindis out of lightly raced A Secret Life. She has produced 100% money earners from five starters, including 2015 Sweetwater Wyoming Bred Futurty winner Barley A Secret. A Toast To Brindis is her second stakes winner and top earner.
KR American Pi (One Sweet Jess-Kr American Girl) was second under Tyson Lusk for owner Wy Knot Stables and trainer by Dru Hall. He has one victory from 10 starts, but has finished in the money six times.
Dust Stone (First Prize Stone-Dreaming Snow) and Jesus Valenzuela were third for owner Jim Neveker and trainer Riley Moosman. The only horse to defeat A Toast To Brindis in 2018, Dust Stone had won his previous two starts.
Innosent Cat (Red Storm Cat-Not That Innocent), Favorite Fire Boy (Favorite Cartel- Club Pro), Foose Dust (Foose-Out Of The Dust), Little Amg (Maknmoves-LP Sure And Proud), Cente Version (Winners Version-Really Magic TB), Switching To 307 (First Prize Stone-Rm Switching Chicks) and Tanquery Dash (Brindis Por Cayenne-Dashin Dashetta) completed the order of finish.
