Revelacion Classic
KR GALLOPING GHOST
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Eduardo Silveyra
The May 6 trials to the Revelacion Classic drew 25 entrants and 10 finalists moved on to dispute a record purse of $908,700 pesos ($46,119 US approx.) at a distance of 350 yards. This classic is an open race for runners three years or older who have never won a classic. Three battles were fought on the track in the finals: the filly The Ivory Letter came in with the fastest time of :17.363 followed by KR Galloping Ghost with a time of :17.367 and the eventual winner of the main prize.
On May 20, the finalists returned to obtain a winner. They turned the sandy track up
with their silver horseshoes, all of them neatly towards the goal. From the start, the figure
of the grey colt KR Galloping Ghost (#1) was highlighted, running along the inner rail and responding well to the command of José Ángel Ambrosio Medina. On his right side, the rest of the group moved with equal intentions. Only the filly Y Paint Paris (#7) came close during the route, but it was not enough to hunt him down, and she finished a neck behind the inspired sprinter, who with this triumph also broke his maiden from six appearances.
He only needed :17.24 to achieve his goal, equivalent to a 97 speed index, improving his qualification time by :0.12. At four years old, the grey colt is owned by Cuadra El Legado, whose members celebrated
this important victory at the winner’s circle. He is by One Famous Eagle and out of I Bee Phia, by Mr Eye Opener.
The earnings account
of KR Galloping Ghost increased by $545,220 pesos (approx. $27,672 US), which constitute 60% of the total purse. For his part, rider José Ángel Ambrosio Medina added the second classic of the afternoon to his brilliant record, prior to this, he won the Clasico AMCCCCM with One Danny.
The mare Y Paint Paris (PYC Paint Your Wagon-First Prize Paris) had a good close and captured second place with Francisco Javier
Fernández as rider. She is owned by Cuadra Los Gavilanes and trained by Rubén Romo Hernández.
The colt JP Specially Special (Special Alluring - Sheza Special
Devon) was awarded the prize for third place, with his helms- man José Manuel Cisneros. He belongs to Cuadra Valeria and is trained by René Alan Rodríguez García.
The other finalists arrived in the following order: The Ivory Letter (Ivory James– Lett Her Zoom), Copper Stop (Apollitical Jess–Answer The Dream), Dans Teller (Teller Cartel–First Down Oak), Kitty Kiernan (FDD Dynasty–Fleeting Touch),
Famous Cocopatas Man (One Famous Eagle–Cocopata), Carl Fourteen (Ivory James– Sweethearts Lady), and EC Capriccio (The Louisiana Cartel–Royal Florentine).
