GLENNWOOD FARM
Justify started life on Glennwood Farm from the mating of Scat Daddy to their home bred mare Stage Magic. The fact that Justify comes from the Glennwood breeding program headed by John Gunther and his daughter Tonya gave him great credentials for success. This breeding program is based around
20 broodmares and has produced some
great runners, including Champion Stevie Wonderboy, winner of the 2005 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile-G1; 2005 Champagne Stakes-G1 winner First Samurai; 2011 Travers Stakes-G1 winner Stay Thirsty; and 2016 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile-G1 winner Tamarkuz.
Glennwood Farm put three nice colts in the 2016 yearling sales: Justify, Vino Rosso and Without Parole. They sold Justify, winner of the Triple Crown. They sold 2018 Wood Memorial Stakes-G1 winner and a 2018 Kentucky Derby participant Vino Rosso. This gave them two Derby starters. Without Parole didn’t reach his reserve at the Tattersalls October Sale, so they kept him and they are racing him. He is the winner of the 2018 St. James Palace Stakes-G1 at Royal Ascot in England, and is undefeated in four starts.
The winning connections celebrate after Justify won the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby on May 5, 2018, the first leg of the Triple Crown.
