It was one big happy family in the winner’s circle after the July 29 Governor’s Cup Futurity-RG2 at Los Alamitos. Mike
Casselman, who bred, owns, and trains winner You See That, got to accept the trophy from Dr. Steve Burns and Burns’ wife Jo, who is also Casselman’s sister.
When the gate opened, You See That broke with the field and immediately sprinted to the lead from the rail for jockey Jose Nicasio. He remained in front throughout the rest of the 350 yards, winning by 1/2-length in :17.830, while posting an 88 speed index.
“Jose was glad he had the one hole,” said Casselman. “He broke good enough to kind of get himself out of trouble and saved him from there.”
Third in his racing debut on May 13 at
Los Alamitos, You See That broke his maiden handily on June 4. Nicasio rode him for the first time in the Governor’s Cup Futurity trials. You See That took his trial by a neck for the fourth-fastest time.
