essica Hadley’s Pappauino held on at the wire to
win the 100-yard Don Pedro Dash at Wyoming Downs on July 30.
Ridden by Jesus Virgen, Pappauino stopped the timer in :6.594, and his margin of victory was a nose from Pappajeto, who clocked in at :6.602. Jordan Hadley prepped the gelding.
Pappauino was bred in Utah by Jerry L.
Allen, and he is out of Merry Perry, an unraced homebred daughter of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Dashing Jess Perry. Pappauino traces back to his fifth dam, Cash For Milady, a daughter of 2-time World Champion Dash For Cash who won the 1983 Ed Burke Memorial Futurity-G2 at Los Alamitos.
Raced in two states, including Utah, Pappauino has won four of 11 starts, and the $10,500 winner’s share of the purse from his first stakes score increased the gelding’s bankroll to $27,204.
Runner-up Pappajeto (Pappasito-Streaking Secrets) was 15 days removed from his 3/4-length victory in a 330-yard $9,000 non-winners-of-four allowance dash at Wyoming Downs. Jose Antonio Figueroa rode the homebred 7-year-old gelding for owners Linda and David Burt, who also trained Pappajeto.
Game For Corona Hot (Salt Point Bay- Passtheflower) finished third, a neck behind Pappauino, while pocketing $1,750 for her owner RR Racing Stables. Oscar Cervantes rode the 3-year- old filly for trainer Ricardo Robles.
UD Goldenboy (JR Dynasty Mountain- Bvlgari B), VF Give Me A Prize (First Prize Stanley-Red Temptress), Too Taboo (One Fabulous Eagle-Strictly Taboo), Sophia Maria (Apollitical Jess-Fantastic Follies), Eyesa Special Swirl (Eyesa Special Slim-Lil Charolette Swirl), UD Tootsie Roll (Pappasito-Bvlgari B), and Crown Apple (Masters Call-Primal Scream) completed the order of finish.

Redoinit and jockey Larren Delorme snagged the win in the $25,300 NDQHRA Derby at North Dakota Horse Park on July 29. The gelding crossed the wire by a neck and finished the 400 yards on dirt in :20.013 for a speed index of 103.
Owner and trainer Steve Leonard received the winning purse of $12,650 and Redoinit’s bankroll now sits at $36,632.
Redoinit has finished in the money 8 out of 11 of his career starts.
Redoinit was the winner of NDQHRA Futurity at North Dakota Horse Park in July of 2022.
Redonit also finished second in the 2023 Chippewa Downs North Dakoa Bred Derby, and second in the 2022 1990 Futurity and 2022 Rusty Wilson Memorial Futurity.
The sorrel gelding was bred by Randy D and Sharlene Lynn Reuer. He is the first starter out of dam Bigtime Folly.
Under jockey Uriel Cervantes, Mountains Are Blue (Gone To The Mountain-Easily A Gol) made a tight squeeze up the field between opponents to cross the finish second. The brown gelding is owned by Rodney J. Smith and is trained by Lacy Deshazo.
One Painted Spitfire (Famous Painted One-Little Speed Wagon), under the hand of jockey Zack Ziegler, seized command of the field in the stretch, but was overtaken coming over the wire. The sorrel gelding is owned by Darrel H. Smith and trained by Steve Leonard.
Kool Charly (Captain Toshky-Rockin Charts) was fouth and Bp Phoenix to Win (BP Phoenix Reign-Cupcake To Win) was fifth. Makin It Rayne (Hes Relentless-Marmolly) crossed the wire fifth, 6 3/4 lengths ahead of the next horse. However, the filly was disqualified from fifth to sixth for breaking in and bothering foe. Brave Heart Courage (Captain Toshky-Rare Hula) followed.

favorite, Like Tequila Does swept the 350 yards to win the $26,700 NDQHRA Futurity at North Dakota Horse Park on July 30. Seated by jockey Uriel Cervantes, the filly was never headed and crossed the wire by 2 lengths for a time of :17.899 to snag herself a speed index of 98.
Like Tequila Does brought home $13,350
for owners Jason R. Smith and Cole Wilson. She now boasts a bankroll of $15,475. Like Tequila Does is trained by Lacy Deshazo and has two wins in two starts for her career.
The sorrel filly was bred by Noreen Cavenaugh and Darrel Smith, out of dam Little Speed Wagon. Like Tequila Does is the leading progeny for Little Speed Wagon and is a half- sister to One Painted Spitfire, the third place finisher in the 2023 NDQHRA Derby.
Coming in second, Lil Rider (Pyc Fun N Fancy-Park Avenue Air), under jockey Ricardo Martinez, gave a strong effort and crossed over the wire by 3/4 lengths. The chestnut filly is bred, owned, and trained by Ronald Addicott. She has placed in all 4 starts of her race career.
Finishing third, Mrs Ramblin V (Ima Ramblin On-Ms Veronica) and jockey Zack Ziegler battled on the outside and gave a strong overall run. She is owned and trained by Cole Wilson. The filly won the Northern Plains Futurity at Chippewa Downs on June 18.
The rest of the field crossed the wire as follows; Grit Eye (Hawkeye-Marmalades Cartel), Reids Rocket (Dashing Jess Perry-Miss Salty Val), Bodacious Trickster (Bodacious Dash-Tricks On The Side), Dcr C Nor Doubtfire (Fire Breathing Wagon-Madam Doubtfire), Victoria Maria (Mr Special Colors- Lauren Victoria).
