Cy-Hawk Stakes

12-1 longshot in a field of seven Iowa-bred
runners, Casey Veach’s TS Perry Kool sprinted to a wire-to-wire victory in the $35,000 Cy-Hawk Stakes at Prairie Meadows on Aug. 5.
TS Perry Kool went 350 yards in :17.580, and his winning margin was a nose from 13-10 favorite Lil Pete El Soruyo. Stormy Smith rode the 4-year-old son of Lil Kool Wagon for trainer Tony Jones.
TS Perry Kool was coming off of a second-place finish in a 330-yard, $21,330 second-level allowance dash for Iowa-breds on July 23. The gray gelding was bred by Thomas J. Scheckel of Bellevue, Iowa, and he is out of Mrs Aqua Perry, a winning daughter of Mr Jess Perry who Scheckel purchased from breeder McColee Land & Livestock for $60,000 at the 2015 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
TS Perry Kool’s second dam, the stakes- winning and Grade 1-placed First Down Dash mare Aquafina, is a full sister to World Champion Wave Carver and Champion Ocean Runaway.
Raced in two states, including Oklahoma,
TS Perry Kool has won three of 19 starts, and the $16,800 winner’s share of the purse from his first stakes victory bumped his bankroll to $71,792. The gelding’s stakes record includes a second-place run in last year’s 350-yard, $62,230 Cyclone Derby for Iowa-bred sophomores.
Lil Pete El Soruyo (Lil Kool Wagon- Pistolpaknprincess) was second for owner, Humberto Rivera. Andrew Samaniego rode the homebred gelding for trainer Stacy Belt. Kornfusion (Lil Kool Wagon-Alina Alina) ran third under Alfredo Triana Jr. for his owner and trainer, Manuel Mojica Campos.
Candy And Corona (Jess Good Candy-Cartels Belle) finished fourth and was followed by Gracies Tuition (Lil Kool Wagon-Majestic Jet Black), Lil Pistol Pete (Lil Kool Wagon-Chargin To The Lead), and Iris Royal Jess (Captain Courage-Pure Royal Dash).
Alberta Stallion Stakes Maturity

Jeffrey R.W. Rath’s O Seeyalater sprinted to a clear 2 1/2-length victory in the $15,619 Alberta Stallion Stakes Maturity for 3 year olds and older who are eligible to the Alberta Stallion Stakes Program on Aug. 12.
O Seeyalater covered 330 yards in :16.606, breaking the previous track record for the distance of :16.633 set by stablemate O First Sweet Heart in last year’s Alberta Stallion Stakes Derby. Francisco Guerrero rode the 3-year-old daughter of the Oak Tree Special stallion First Timber for trainer Wesley Oulton.
O Seeyalater was bred in Alberta by Wesley Oulton. The filly is out of Howdoyado, a winning and stakes-placed daughter of the Corona Cartel stallion Pappasito, who Oulton purchased for $9,700 at the 2012 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City.
O Seeyalater was coming off of a wire-to-wire 1/2-length win in the 400-yard $34,782 Adequan Evergreen Park Derby Challenge at Grande Prairie, Alberta, on July 23. Campaigned in Alberta and two states in the U.S., including Oklahoma, the filly has won four of 15 races, and the $8,278 winner’s share of this purse from her third lifetime stakes victory bumped her earnings to $64,112.
Northfork Boss (JD Wagon Boss-Northfork Babe) ran second while banking the $4,061 runner-up share of the purse for his owners Glenn Wills, Delton D. Gehring, and Buckey Stockwell, who also prepped the homebred sophomore gelding. Alexander Marti rode Northfork Boss.
Double Cruise (Bd Cruiser-Eye Cruise) finished third, 3 1/4-lengths behind O Seeyalater, and earned $1,874 for his owner Tom Kenway, who also trained the homebred 6-year-old gelding. Martin Ortiz rode Double Cruise.
Timbers Express (First Timber-Daddys Express Girl) and Bearcat Bill (First Timber-Splashy Mamacita) completed the order of finish.
Wyoming Downs Derby
MS FLAMING FINISH

n a flawless gate to wire run, Ms Flaming Finish
scooped up the win in the $64,600 Young Ford Wyoming Downs Derby on August 5. Guided by the hand of jockey Jesus Canales, the filly breezed the 400 yards in a time of :19.851 and scored a speed index of 96. The filly steadily gained ground throughout her run and crossed the wire by 1 1/2 lengths.
Ms Flaming Finish brought home a winning purse of $29,716 for owner LG Racing LLC and trainer Abelardo Gonzalez. The sorrel filly has finished in the money 12 of her 13 career starts and currently boasts a bankroll of $156,490. She placed third in the AQHA Juvenile Challenge Championship Grade 2 at Horseshoe Indianapolis last October.
The filly was bred by George and Sandra Villalobos in California. Ms Flaming Finish is the first winning starter out of Flaming Chula.
The Iron Chef (Flay-Pt Eyes On Me) and jockey Tyson Lusk hesitated breaking from the gate and rallied too late to recover the win. The gelding is owned by Shannon Demier and Renegade Racing and is trained by Dru Hall. The gelding has won or placed in all three of his starts this racing season.
Race favorite, Jr Dash of Coronado (Coronado Cartel-Jr Dash Of Shania) and jockey Cesar Moreno broke alertly and performed game third. The filly
is bred and owned by J R Stables and is trained
by Riley Moosman. She was the winner of the Wyoming Downs Futurity last August.
The remainder of the field crossed the wire as follows Miss Kool Menace (Lil Kool Wagon-Menacing Cartel), All Tyme High (Moonin The Eagle-All About Ease), Knud Politics (Apollitical Blood-Koris Knud Chick), Kcross Cuatro (Rgr Jungle Jock-Caseys Six Pick), Grey Dust (Glock-Out of the Dust).
Baby I Du and Fire of the Mountain were both scratched.
