Flyin Rabbit 123 won his first race and made easy work of his All American Futurity trial. The sorrel gelding broke on top from the 4-gate and soared to an impressive 2 3/4-length wire-to-wire
victory. The gelding is a homebred for Louis Malechek III and is trained by Toby Keeton. Juan Pulido has ridden the gelding in three of his four outs.
Malecheck bred Flyin Rabbit 123 out of Oklahoma Hi-Point Aged Mare Hardtoget, winner of the Jerry Jaggars Memorial and second in the Juno’s Request Stakes-G2 and Miss Ellen Stakes. She has produced 100% winners from two starters, including stakes placed Hardtotempt.
Cowboys Gun Z entered the All American Futurity trials with a pair of second place finishes. The bay gelding made his first start on May 26 in the trials of the Ruidoso Futurity, where he finished second and did not qualify to the Grade 1 finals. Next, he finished second by a neck in the Rainbow Futurity trials and did not qualify to the Grade 1 finals.
In only his third career start, Cowboys Gun Z stepped into the 2-gate for his All American Futurity trial. The gelding exited in fifth, but
promptly grabbed the lead and was never headed. He had a head lead
at the first call and at the top of the stretch and finished 1-length to the good, securing the sixth spot on the qualifying ladder. Cowboys Gun Z was bred by Running C Ranch LLC and is owned by West Texas Racing Partners. Agustin Silva has ridden the gelding in all his three starts for trainer Michael Joiner. Cowboys Gun Z was a $125,000 purchase at the 2022 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.
