  Oklahoma Paint Futurity-G1
Laus DEO
by Tracy Gantz
Trainer Eddie Lee Willis has had good luck with Laus Deo’s family. He and horseshoer Justin Haywood bought the filly’s half-brother, Barney Ofield, from breeders Bill and Marion Hoskin as a 4-year-old in 2010 and developed him into a Paint champion last year. Willis may do the same with Laus Deo, who made a good start in winning the March 17 Oklahoma Paint Futurity-G1 at Remington Park.
Laus Deo qualified the fastest for the Oklahoma Paint Futurity when she won her March 2 trial by two lengths in her racing debut. In the final, Super Glide Harley sped to the lead from the rail, with Laus Deo
close behind. Jockey Kenny Muntz asked Laus Deo
to close the gap, and she responded willingly, edging ahead to win by a neck in :15.469 as the 9-10 favorite.
Ubuyillfly got up to take second from Super Glide Harley by a head.
Racing in the name of Willis’ wife, Joni, Laus Deo comes from a line of good Paint racehorses. The Hoskins bred her in Marion’s name from the winning Texas Hero mare Shero, whose full sister Runaway Rosie won the 1998 Graham Paint Futurity and was named champion Paint 2-year-old filly of that year and
champion 3-year-old Paint filly of 1999.
Shero has produced four winners from five starters, including stakes winner Barney Ofield, the champion Paint solid aged horse and gelding of 2011, as well as stakes-placed Bailout and Spotless Redneck. One race before the Oklahoma Paint Futurity at Remington, Spotless Redneck ran second in the Speedhorse Graham Paint and Appaloosa Derby-G1.
Willis’ father, Eddie D., trains Ubuyillfly (Country Quick Dash-Strafing Run), the third-fastest qualifier. Owned by Mary Hainline, the colt won his trial under Jimmy Brooks, who also rode him in the final.
Super Glide Harley (Awesome Chrome- Biker Chick), who finished third in the final under G.R. Carter Jr., ran second to Ubuyillfly in his trial. Onwed by the Paint Horse Queens, he was the fourth-fastest qualifier.
Completing the field were Rash For Cash (SF Royal Quick Flash-Eysa Savvy Queen), Larks Caboosie (Awesome Chrome-Lethal Lark), Imachickenkicker (Dos Poruno- Game Chicken), Lajollas Mr Big Stuff (SF RoyalQuick Flash-McM Evelyn Lajolla), and Mean Little Sis (Coronas Prospect-Magic Misty Morning). Nothingsweetaboutme and Uno Poruno were scratched.

Crazy MOThEr TruCkEr
by Tracy Gantz
Crazy Mother Trucker needed some time as a 2-year-old to overcome a few minor injuries. But once she partnered with jockey Berkley
Packer, the Paint filly has been a beacon of consis- tency. In seven starts under Packer, Crazy Mother Trucker has never finished worse than second. With her victory in the March 17 Speedhorse Graham Paint and Appaloosa Derby-G1 at Remington Park, she now rides
a three-race win streak. Packer broke Crazy
Mother Trucker on top in the 350-yard Speedhorse Graham Derby. Spotless Redneck raced head and head with
the sorrel solid filly for a few strides, but after that Crazy Mother Trucker never let
the gelding get closer than a half-length. She pulled away to a three-quarter-length win at the wire in :17.702.
Trained by Matthew McCart, Crazy Mother Trucker finished second in a trial for last year’s Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Paint and Appaloosa Futurity-RG1 at Fair Meadows in her first start with Packer. Disqualified to ninth after finishing second in the final to the good Appaloosa Captain Bucko, the pair finished second in the Tulsa
State Fair Stakes-G2 to eventual Paint 2-year-old filly champion Junglebell and won a maiden and an allow- ance last year before winning their Speedhorse Graham trial in the fastest qualifying time.
Wade Leggett of Muskogee, Oklahoma, owns Crazy Mother Trucker, and his father, Charles, bred the filly out of Texas Fourwinds. Crazy Mother Trucker is the mare’s first winner in three starters.
Kenny Muntz piloted Spotless Redneck (Judys Lineage-Shero) to second for owner Joni Beth Willis and trainer Eddie Willis. Spotless Redneck finished second in the 2011 American Paint Classic Futurity-RG1.
Mickey and Stanley Johnson’s homebred Sen Tosa (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Friona) ran third under Ricky Ramirez. Trained by Stacy Charette-Hill, the Paint filly was stakes placed twice in 2011.
Runaway Argus (SF Royal Quick Flash- Giddy Up) was fourth. The lone Appaloosa in the field Ivory Queen (Ivory James-Sure Nuff Fast) and Flashthechicks (SF Royal Quick Flash-Game Chicken) dead-heated for fifth, followed by Fly Shari Fly (Fly Jess Fly-Western Memories) and SM Streakin Country (Country Quick Dash-Ms Streakin Stride). Good As Gone and Sunday Sputnik were scratched.
