aGrade 1-placed runner at 440 yards, Mr Truly Uno became a stakes winner at 550 yards on March 10 at Remington Park, when he won the $35,900 SLM Big Daddy Stakes.
Owned by Sally Box of Aubrey, Texas, and trained by Sleepy Gilbreath, Mr Truly Uno was making his first start of 2012 in the SLM Big Daddy. Ridden by Roy Baldillez, Mr Truly Uno hesitated ever so slighly at the start and raced in mid-pack early on
from the two post. By the time the field reached the gap, Mr Truly Uno had hooked up with William Henry, with those two rivals dueling it out on the lead.
At the wire, Mr Truly Uno prevailed by a neck, stopping the timer in :26.883.
Sent off at odds of 5-1, Mr Truly Uno earned $20,730 of the purse for his first stakes win, taking
his lifetime total to $108,865. The 5-year- old Feature Mr Jess gelding was previously second in the Grade 1 Refrigerator Handicap, third in the Remington Park Championship Challenge-G2, and was a finalist in the All American Derby-G1 and Remingon Park Invitational Championship-G1.
Bred by Jacque Tanton, Mr Truly Uno is out of the Tolltac mare Truly Yours. He is a
half-brother to stakes winners Truly First Class and Six Feathers, and to the stakes placed runners Profit Taker and JTS So True, and is a full brother to Grade 3 placed Feature For You.
William Henry (Brimmerton-Little Ladybug-TB) finished second with Alex Baldillez Jr. in the saddle for trainer Ralph Muniz. Rancho Los Dos Potrillos LLC owns the
4-year-old gelding who was an allowance win- ner at 550 yards in his last start.
Favored Chi Ter (Granite Lake-This Chicks Stylish) checked into third. Owned by Mary Passmore, Chi Ter had won three of his last four races including the Sawgrass Stakes at Hialeah Park. Jackie Kirby trains the 5-year- old gelding, who was ridden by Cody Smith.
The top three were followed across the
wire by: Shake Em Special Pop (Royal Shake Em-Gotta Special Pop), BV Eyesa Shazoom (Shazoom-Eyesa First), Dashing Manner (Title Contender-Dot Dot And Dash), DG Sabinal (Brimmerton-Flowin Ease), Docs Dusty Okie (Okey Dokey Dale-Stephanie Rose), Jess Sporty (Mr Jess Perry-Sportiness), and Im Off N Runnin (Real Runaway-La Vita E Bella).
The race was named in honor of two-time AQHA World Champion SLM Big Daddy.

Prissy Gold Digger handicap
BV VaLEnTInE WaGOn
by Stacy Pigott
Making only the fourth start of her career, BV Valentine Wagon won her second stakes race with a solid half-length score in
the $33,250 Prissy Gold Digger Handicap on March 10 at Remington Park.
Contested at 330 yards, the race was restricted to Oklahoma-bred 3-year-old fillies, with a field of six facing starter Ed Crane. Breaking cleanly but a step slowly from post position two, BV Valentine
Wagon quickly got down to
business under jockey Kenny
Muntz. She took the lead by
the midway point and held
off Haulin Candy Salt to win
in a time of :16.802.
Trained by Eddie Willis for owner/breeder Bella
Vista Farms LLC, of Arcola, Illinois, BV Valentine Wagon broke her maiden last March and won the FL Lady Bugs Stakes on May 30 before
taking the rest of the year off. This was her first start back since that stakes win. A grey filly sired by PYC Paint Your Wagon, BV Valentine Wagon has now earned $49,950.
BV Valentine Wagon is the second foal out of 2005 Kansas Futurity-G2 winner Eyesa First, and is her first stakes winner. All four of Eyesa First’s race-age foals are winners, includ- ing a 2-year-old of 2012, BV Eyesazoom, who
broke her maiden by three- quarters of a length the day after the Prissy Gold Digger.
Runner-up Haulin Candy Salt (PYC Paint Your Wagon- Salt Lake Spitty) earned $6,632 for owner/breeder Carl Pevehouse. Clinton Crawford trains the filly who was rid- den by Tony Bennett. Haulin Candy Salt was second in last year’s Speedhorse Gold Cup Futurity-G2.
CC Dynasty (FDD
Dynasty-Corona Coquette) crossed the wire third with David Pinon in the saddle for trainer Eddie Willis. James Sills owns CC Dynasty, who was second in the Bugs Alive In 75 Stakes last year.
Margaretaville (Ivory James-Iona Tour) finished fourth and was followed by favored Ranch Candy (Wave Carver-Give Me Candy), who broke poorly and never recovered, and Miss Wapyscash (Royal Blue Chew Chew- Wapyscash). BP Holland Cartel was scratched.
The Prissy Gold Digger Handicap is named after the multiple stakes winning mare who won the 1977 Kansas Futurity at Ruidoso Downs, which was then the beginning of Quarter Horse racing’s Triple Crown. She was owned by Oklahoman Bob Moore, and earned nearly $300,000 on the track before becoming a prominent broodmare.
