Los Alamitos Race Course hosted its inaugural Salute to First Responders. The event featured family friendly fun and interactive events and displays. First Responders were recognized
in the winner’s circle throughout the night. “Every day there are brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our communities and keep us safe,” said Orlando Gutierrez, marketing director of Los Alamitos Race Course. “We are pleased to create this event to salute their efforts and look forward to a festive event they can enjoy with their fami- lies along with the community they serve.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that gives the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) authority to suspend racing meet licenses to protect the safety of horses and jockeys if the California Horse Racing Board sees an issue. Bill SB 469 allows the CHRB to take immediate action if they feel something improper is occurring.

Natalie Dayharsh was the winner of the QHRAI Youth Racing Experience event held at Indiana Grand. She received a $2,000 scholar- ship from the QHRAI and advanced to the national AQHA Youth Racing Experience dur- ing the Bank of America Challenge on Oct. 26.

A 2019 filly by Apollitical Jess and out
of Cheyenne Hero was named the 2019 Speedhorse Future Stakes Winner winner. Canadian River Quarter Horses owns the filly.

The 2019 class of the Ruidoso Downs Racehorse Hall of Fame was inducted at Ruidoso Downs. Inductees include the late breeder/owner Harriett Peckham, trainer Leo Wood, jockey Johnny Cox and Thoroughbred Mine That Bird.

In honor of National Meet a Horse Day, the American Horse Council (AHC) partnered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), National Park Service Police, the Washington International Horses Show and the Caisson Platoon to introduce people to the world of horses during the USDA’s Farmers Market in Washington, D.C.

Last year, the AQHA announced the 2019 Bank of America Challenge Championships would be hosted by The Downs of Albuquerque on Oct. 26, and an agreement has been signed for the New Mexico track to also host the 2020 Bank of America Challenge Championship races. This will mark the third time that the races have been held in New Mexico in 28 editions, as well as the first time a track will host for consecutive years.

Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, ended their meet that began on March 8. Eddie D. Willis received honors as the leading trainer by wins as well as by money earned. James Flores was the leading jockey for the second consecutive sea- son by wins and he was also the leading jockey by money earned. James Sills took the leading owner title by wins, while Sam W. Green was the leading owner by money at nearly $520,000. Additional winners include: Horse of the Meet, Champion Older Male and Champion Oklahoma-Bred Political Attraction (Apollitical Jess-Gunsight Peak, Separatist); Champion 2 Year Old Uptowne Babe (Mr Jess Perry-Ms Southern Dynasty, FDD Dynasty), Champion 3 Year Old Apollitical Pence (Apollitical Jess-Send City, Tres Seis); Champion Older Female and Champion Distance Runner Ms Esther (Afrashad TB-Tres Down The Cash, Tres Seis); Champion Claimer Apollitical Valor (Apollitical Jess-BP Painted Lady, PYC Paint Your Wagon); Champion Paint DTL Samureye (Royal Quick Flash-Eysa Savvy Queen, Mr Eye Opener); and Champion Appaloosa D Railed (Freighttrain B QH-Jess Streakin, Feature Mr Jess QH).

is the founder, CEO and editor-in-chief of E-Squared Editorial Services; Jamie Samples, a marketing professional focused on social media; and Jennifer Paulson, who has 20 years of expe- rience in publishing, media and advertising.

John Lutz became the American Quarter Horse Association’s new chief revenue officer, sales and business development. Lutz’ resume includes being the vice president of sales
and chief technology officer at FireStream Worldwide in St. Louis; and, most recently, vice president of sales and marketing at Davidson Companies in Amarillo.
