Mexican Breeders’ Futurity
ZE DANCER ARANDAS
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Eduardo Silveyra
The 29th running of the Mexican Breeders’ Futurity was the last race of the 2017 sea- son at the Hipódromo de las Américas, where racing will return to the track on January 20, 2018. Restricted for horses born in Mexico, there were 40 entrants that participated in the trials, from which 10 finalists went on to compete at 400 yards for a $1,715,525 pesos (approx. $89,723 US) prize.
Sensational Horse from Cuadra Falcón was scratched, leaving nine contenders. Among them, the colt Ze Dancer Arandas went to
the finals with the fastest qualifying time (:19.717) followed by Z Real Perry, Clasic Chic and BR Chivali South.
There were many bumps between horses in the race. First, Ze Dancer Arandas made contact with Power Heart and then Clasic Chic bumped Z Real Perry and EC Vigilante. In spite of this, the race flowed quickly and soon everyone settled on the track. Ze Dancer Arandas overtook BR Chivali South, while on the right side of the track, the grey filly Clasic Chic was ridden by Paul Osvaldo Rodríguez in pursuit of the leaders. Clasic Chic’s effort only allowed her to cross the finish line in
second, 1/2-length behind Ze Dancer Arandas and an equal difference ahead of BR Chivali South.
The winner, with José Manuel Cisneros in charge, ran the 400 yards in
:19.74 (si 90) for members
of the Cuadra Hacienda
Vieja, owner of the beautiful black horse, and his trainer Epifanio Carrasco Sandoval.
With this triumph, Ze
Dancer Arandas closes his
first campaign with a record
of 7-1-1 from nine outs.
This is the first classic added
to his record, which also
includes the Mexico Futurity
Consolation and the Selecta
Auction Futurity Consolation
(by DQ of Rey De Reyes), as well as a second in the Garañones Futurity (by DQ of SF Simple Quick Heart), adding $720,520 pesos ($37,683 US approx.) to his earnings account.
Ze Dancer Arandas is by Ze Dancer and out of Arandas Andy (by Andy Sixes). Raised in the State of Jalisco by Felix Bañuelos, the
colt was presented at the 2016 Yearling Select Auction (Hip# 15), where he was offered at $130,000 pesos ($7,083 US) and was kept as the property of his stable.
Clasic Chic was second, but was disqualified to fifth, giving this position to BR Chivali South (Southern Corona-Chivali Go) with the assistance of Arturo Romero. The colt is owned by Cuadra Chilano and is trained by Leonilo Cruz García.
BR Corona Dove (Southern Corona-Dark
Dove TB) was third under Yair Daniel Báez Soto. He is owned by Cuadra A&G and trained by José Ravel Baltazar. (Azyoucansee–Real Quick
