by Dillon Hamilton
Favorite RBD Jessaswingin was the only girl from the field ready to party after her first stakes win in the $25,000 Party Girl Stakes for accredited
Louisiana bred fillies and mares at Louisiana Downs on Jan. 28.
The 5-year-old sorrel mare left the gate in the lead from the 7-post, fighting against a notice-
able midafternoon head wind. RBD Jessaswingin stretched the early lead to 1/2-length under Alfonso Lujan and held that lead for most of the race. The pair went all out, was never headed, and held off late contenders to finish a nose in front, stopping the clock in :17.774 and earning a 94 speed index.
RBD Jessaswingin’s first ever stakes victory came with the $15,000 winner’s share of the $25,000 purse that boosted her earnings to $129,968 for owner Jaime Gutierrez and trainer Yoani Abreu.
RB and Dox’ Stables bred RBD Jessaswingin
out of winner Furby. The mare has produce 100% money earners from five starters. RBD Jessaswingin, who previously finished second in last year’s Audubon Stakes and Evangeline Downs Dash, as well as third in the 2015 Billy Montgomery Stakes, is her top earner and first stakes winner.

Swift Stakes
JESS BEIN THE HERO
by Danny Camp
Louisiana Downs had a lightning fast track for the running of the Swift Stakes on Jan. 28, and the top two runners each earned speed indexes over 100.
Jess Bein The Hero broke on top from the 9-gate, but slipped to second at first call. Rider Santiago Mendez urged Jess Bein The Hero to get up in
time and crossed the wire a neck in front. The pair stopped the clock at :17.485, earning a career best 103 speed index. The first place check of $9,000 boosted the colt’s earnings to $42,553 for owner Juan F. Martinez-Labastida and trainer Miguel Rodriguez.
Jess Bein The Hero was bred in Texas by Curtis Crenwelge out of multiple stakes-placed winner Jess Braggin. The mare has produced 100% money earners from eight starters, including top earner Braggin Bout My Zoom, who finished second in the 2012 Firecracker Futurity-G2 at Delta Downs, and Braggin N Dashin, who finished third in
the 2014 Par A Dice Stakes at Delta Downs. Jess Bein The Hero also finished second in the 2016 Evangeline Downs Derby and is the first stakes winner in the brood.

Cypress Handicap
FIRST N FINAL
by John Moorehouse

Jan. 20 at Los Alamitos.
