“Debbie Schauf is irreplaceable. The depth
of her knowledge and understanding of the American Quarter Horse racing industry is unequaled not only in Oklahoma, but also nationwide. No matter how big or little a situation or problem was, Debbie was always willing to help. My last conversation with her was the day before she went into the hospital, and she called out of friendship to pass on some very helpful information. Debbie Schauf served our industry not as an owner or breeder, but as a person who loved Quarter Horse racing.”

“Debbie . . . what a special lady she was to
me and my family. She will be sorely missed
in racing, worldwide. It did not matter what advice I needed or issue I may have, Debbie could and would fix it for me. Whether I was in Wyoming, Florida or Idaho, she never said, ’No, I can’t do that.’ In fact, the last time I tapped her for help was for a hair testing rule for Idaho. I called so often with questions, she finally said, ’Why don’t I do it and send you the rule ready for print?’ I said thank you and it passed the last legislative session. I could go on for hours about Debbie. So Krissy and all her family, you need to know she is much loved and very much appreciated, especially by me.” - Duayne Diderickson
“From the time she was a small child, Deb loved horses. She would ride her pony, Brownie, all over the small town in which we lived. Most kids rode their bicycles; Deb rode her horse. She could barely wait for the school day to end so she could go ride. When she was in high school she wanted to be a veterinarian, but decided to have a family first. She got so busy with her home building and real estate career, she never had time to go back to school and get her vet degree. Her love for horses while she was a Kansas lawmaker led her to a career with Quarter Horse racing. Our parents never thought she could make a living doing what she loved, but she proved them wrong. They would be so proud of her and all her accomplishments.”
