“I’ve known Debbie for 35 years and we got to be close, just a real good friend, but I think I’m going to miss her smile and her stories and as much fun as we had at the different committees and out to dinner and being at the races with her and being on the council with her and all. She’s going to really be missed because she was just so much fun. Sure, she was a business lady and all like that, but she was just a real super person to be around, just a lot of fun and I’m going to sure miss her smile.”

“To Dee and I, Debbie was like family. When he was the president of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association, Dee hired Debbie as the Executive Director when she was still
in Kansas. She had a deep love of the racing industry and always made sure horsemen were taken care of. Recently, I have asked people, ‘Do you know what the Benevolent Fund is?’ and they say, ‘They Beneve wha?’ Once, when Debbie found out about a girl who was injured at a Thoroughbred meet and was hurt pretty bad and didn’t have any help, Debbie took her and got her taken care of through this fund. Debbie was a godsend. Bottom line, she was a very great lady.”
