El Moro De Cumpas Derby

Red Beer was the seventh fastest qualifier to the El Moro De Cumpas Derby from the March 3 trials after getting squeezed in his heat. He broke
his maiden, however, in the $20,500 Derby finals at Rillito Park on March 17.
Under jockey Luis Yescas Jr., Red Beer broke clean in second and quickly grabbed the lead. The team covered the 350 yards in :17.649 and posted
a career-high 92 speed index while defeating Miss First N Wild by a head. This marks Red Beer’s first victory from seven starts.
Red Beer was bred by country music star Toby Keith’s Dream Walkin Farms Inc. out of 3-time winner Sister Shelley Rose, who was second in the 2009 Fair Meadows Juvenile. Sister Shelley Rose has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including top money earner Sisters Leaving You. Red Beer is her first stakes winner.
Red Beer brought home the $11,275 winner’s share of the purse for owner Cynthia Rodriguez and trainer Charles Acosta, pushing his bankroll to $13,698, of which $11,652 has been pocketed this season.
Second fastest qualifier Miss First N Wild (First N Wild-Wicked Colors) avoided trouble at the start and earned $4,100 for her runner-up effort. Mark Jasso rode the homebred filly for owner Pinedo Brothers Quarter Horses and trainer Phil Pinedo.
Cartel Bad Boy (Special Cartel-Quieros Dynasty) finished third on the inside rail for owner Francisco Monteverde. Jesus Osuna rode the California-bred for trainer Alvaro Monteverde. Fastest qualifier Pirteville Cartel (Flair For Dancing-Buds Pretty In Blue) ran fourth after bumping at the start and was followed by Jay Collins (Heza Motor Scooter-My Donna Doll), who hit the gate and broke out, Mr Chicks Magnet (Country Chicks Man-Flaming Heroine) and Krash The Cash (Krash Cartel- Fantastic Eyes). La Reynita Dash was scratched.

DASHING BROOKS

Dashing Brooks travels well. Each of his four lifetime wins have come at a different racetrack spanning three states. His most recent victory came
in the $20,500 El Moro De Cumpas Maturity at Rillito Park on March 17.
Dashing Brooks broke in midpack in the 400- yard Maturity and quickly improved his position. Ridden by Jesus Osuna, he emerged between horses to take the lead and won by a 1/2-length in :19.717 for a career high 107 speed index.

A & C Racing and Roping. Dashing Brooks’ earlier triumphs occurred at Remington Park, Lone Star Park and Turf Paradise. This was his first stakes win and now he has a race record of 13-4(1)-4-1. The $11,275 winner’s share of the purse pushed his earn- ings to $36,731.
The gelding had finished second to I V Gone in his March 4 trial to be the 3rd-fastest qualifier to this final.
Chad Richard bred Dashing Brooks out of All American Futurity finalist Brooks Midnight. She has produced 100% money earners from six starters, including stakes placed runners Midnight Version and Brooksmidnighteagle. Dashing Brooks is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Eric Valenzuela owns and trains second-place finisher Forrest Smoke (Stel Corona-Secret Forest). Andres Osuna piloted the 4-year-old colt, who broke his maiden at Turf Paradise earlier in the year.
Alejandro Ortega rode Frontera Special (Genuine Strawfly-Jumanji) to third for owner Roger Jimenez and trainer Omar Cruz.
Completing the field were Kiss The Tears Away (Furyofthewind-Dash For Snow), Go Seis (Tres Seis-Go Veva), Stockton Six (Tres Seis-Smashes It), Dos Tocallos (Jess A Chicks-Fancy Fancy Fancy TB) and One Fast Jess (One Sweet Jess-Fast For Money). I V Gone was scratched.
El Moro De Cumpas Sprint
CARACORTADA

Caracortada scored his second stakes victory in the $15,500 El Moro De Cumpas Sprint at Rillito Park on March 17.
Caracortada broke in fourth under Carlos Marquez and quickly grabbed the lead, driving to finish 1/2-length ahead of the competition. The duo finished the 220 yards in :11.785 for a career best 105 speed index.
Caracortada brought home the $8,525 winner’s share for owner Socorro Vejar & trainer Vanessa Fuentes, boosting his earnings to $77,581. He now has a record of 20-7(2)-6-2(1).
Coracortada also won the 2013 AQRA Turf Paradise Futurity, was 3rd in the 2013 AQRA Open Spring Futurity, and was a finalist in the 2014 Southern California Derby-G1.
Caracortada qualified to the El Moro De Cumpas Sprint after winning his March 3 trial with the fastest qualifying time.
The 7-year-old horse was bred by Ramon Vejar out of unraced Classy Judgette. The mare has produced 100% money earners from three starters. Caracortada is her first stakes winner as well as her top money earner.
Rebs A Rippin (Rebs Royal Dasher-Guitar Superstition) ran second under Luis Yescas Jr. for owners Danny A. & Joseph Riesgo and trainer Monica Ortega.
Pedro Urias Soto saddled third-place finisher Askin For Trouble (Onthewingsofglory-A Bardo Special), who was guided by Joseph Belloc Jr. for owner Armando Hernandez Muniz.
W R Cartel (Corona Cartel-WR Red Ace) finished fouth and was followed by El Remmy (Mr Corona Cash-Thriller Nights), Bright Eyed Vision (Ausual Suspect-Hope For Me), Valiant Meltdown (Valiant Hero-Sign Of The Moon) & Red Storm Memories (Red Storm Cat-Good Ole Memories).
